sc_serv.ban, sc_serv.rip
Hello,
Could some one please copy and paste there .rip and .ban files into a post reply so I can see an example of them first hand? I have done a search on these forums but it was very wide with no results. Basically this code was found in tons of posts: <02/22/05@19:36:21> [main] No ban file found (sc_serv.ban) <02/22/05@19:36:21> [main] No rip file found (sc_serv.rip) Apparently most people don't use these settings but I would like to. Could someone please give me an example? Is it just a simple text file with individual ip's per line? I have about 20 streams going at once. I plan on making a common blacklist for all of them by using sc_serv.ban. I'm also curious about the .rip. Please reply. Thanks! |

the ban file is for black list of IPs or network (/24s only ) the RIP file is 'Reserved IP list'
Basically ban file is IP;mask;who added it ie. 10.1.1.1;255;Manual Add Blocks the IP 10.1.1.1 with a mask of 255.255.255.255 (host specified ) and was added manually. IP, mask , how it was added semi colon seperated the RIP file is just a list of IPs to reserve slots for ( if they attempt to connect someone else is kicked off ) so 10.1.1.1 11.1.1.1 12.1.1.1 One after another in a file BW Without open minds the world will die. Open yours and correct the mistakes you are making right now. |

Okay, I know what both files are for. sc_serv.rip seems very simple. A list just like I thought it would be.
However .ban seems to have confused me a little bit. Going back to my first post could you copy and paste an example. The longer the better. I understand the IP, but not the mask, or who added it. Could it say Manual Add or dnas admin add or something? Thanks. |

use the web adminstration panel to add bans and you will get an example of a properly configured ban file.

Hey, thanks but I've actually already tried that. I don't know if it's Linux version or my set up or what but it doesn't work for me that way. Also after I restart a stream all of the reserved ip's and banned ip's disappear from the dnas interface/admin. Probably because the .ban and .rip files are never created and printed for me through the web admin. I'm going to have to manually create them. That's what got my to this point in the first place. Thanks a lot.

just creat the files, they just need to be blank, also make sure the user on the system who the server runs as has write access to it's current working directory.
