How to "connect" to a shoutcast stream using windows media services???
I need Windows Media Services to connect to a shoutcast stream and distribute it on a LAN.
Is this possible? And if... how to do this? Best Regards Niklas Banck |

ok
I know, but is there no way to "collect" a Shoutcast stream in Windows Media Services that is already distributed by a SHOUTcast server? It is a swedish radio station using SHOUTcast that is distributing a stream that i want to distribute in my LAN.

Use soundcard input -- play the stream with Winamp and the DSP set to a lower or eqial bitrate/samplrate, and send it to the DNAS server on the same machine -- use the LAN address so that the stream will really be local, and you may want to not make the stream public to avoid getting internet listeners and/or Firewall/Cache etc... Errors.
You can name the stream anything you like, but title updates may not occur with SoundCard Input. You could also try to set your DNAS to relay the stream over the LAN (you won't need WinAMP), but it may make the original stream "cluster" so you'll also want to tell the DNAS to not go public. The broadcaster may not like being relayed as well, so I would try both ways. Don't waste your time with Windows Media services, it's way too easy to just re-cast the stream using SHOUTcast tools. |

have a look for streamtranscoder, i believe it can take a stream from a shoutcast source and convert it to WMA.
