Song Time Remaining Is Garbage
I've got a strange problem when using the Ipod plugin to transfer songs to my 20gb 4th Gen Ipod and also my daughter's mini Ipod. If I use the plugin the song time remaining is garbage. It will say something like -60:12:43 for a song that might be say 3 minutes long. If I use Itunes (which I don't want to) I don't get this problem. The strange thing is it only happens one one of my PC's and not the other. I have the same versions of Winamp and v1.12 of the plugin on both machines.
Any ideas anyone? Thanks |

Extra Info
It turns out that this isn't PC specific, it's now happening on all my PC's. I've also noticed that when I open the media library and select my Ipod in the devices list, the track lengths on the affected songs are garbage e.g. 4965:27 instead of say 3:39 which would explain why the Ipod is saying I have hours to go till the end of the song. So now I guess it's a bug within the plugin.
Any help appreciated. Thanks |

More Info Re Track Length Bug
I've been trying to narrow down why the track lengths are garbage when transfering songs via the plugin.
When first using the plugin, I was transfering the songs by right clicking in the playlist and using "send to Ipod". This method caused SOME of the songs to have garbage track lengths. However I've now moved on to just synching all my songs from the media library and have not been able to reproduce this problem. BTW the bug is not related to VBR as I can reprodue it with CBR mp3's too. |

I have the same problem, do you guys think this is fixable some how ? Just for the record i'm using:
Winamp 5.09 ml_ipod 1.14 4GB iPOD Mini I love this new iPOD, love the plugin to death, but this time issue is a problem because with the long track length it makes it impossible to fast forward in a song, the ipod will skip to far ahead (since compared to a 69hour song, a slight fast forward tries to go ahead like 30 mins . I transferred the songs over bu just doing a straight sent to IPOD from my playlist, and not with the media library. TO me, the ability to do it this way is the whole beauty of ml-ipod, i dont want to have to deal with organizing everything in the playlist editor first. thanks for any help fellas |

The problem is with your mp3s, not with the ipod plugin.
First, you need to fix your mp3s. Find vbrfix on the internet (google for it) Run it over the songs on your computer. Now, we need winamp and the ipod plugin to register these changes. So, remove all the fixed songs from BOTH the ipod and the winamp media library. Then add them to the media library and send them to the iPod. This is so that the changes are noticed. I never had the problom in previous versions of mlipod. and I noticed that syncing from libray is fine but transfering a playlist or one song at a time screws it up...did the vbrfix thing and didnt do anything to the mp3's i tried it on....so its eather a plugin isue or winamp isue

I would like to add to this thread that I have also had issues with track length. It only happened however when I transfered files to my ipod (20 gig 3G) using windows 98 and using the USB cable.
This could be an issue with the USB drivers but I doubt it. I have not noticed any issues with track length from transfers done using windows xp with the firewire cable. I am unsure of the version of the plugin that I used under XP however I believe it was hte most recent version. Another possibility: the winamp version? the windows 98 computer had 5.0 on it while the xp version had a newer version. I hope this issue gets worked out as it would be nice to scroll through songs... |

Yep, bug confirmed. It only occurs when you send from the playlist, but not when you drag and drop from windows explorer. I'll fix it for the next release.
