I didn't know it was possible to post in these forums as a "guest." I thought everybody had to log in.

As far as I can tell, it's not possible to post as a guest... I'll try some things to see if it'll work though...
Prolly a mod or someone with background access playing around... Or maybe back when you could post as a guest, someone had a guest account and for some reason it's still around now and can be used. |

but who was the one that posted this thread? And how did he do that? if he's banned he won't be able to post, right? And it can't be a usual member with a CT, cause then you could access his profile!

So it got actually deleted and not just banned then? If so, why wouldn't the posts have disappeared like other times the accounts have been deleted?

strange indeed - so mods can:
- Delete accounts (posts are gone) - Close accounts (Horse-Fly for instance) - Ban members (usual banned thingey) - Remove forum statuses too? //edit: I just noticed that this is mikwiththastick, not mikwiththestick that I know in the AVS forums. copying a name alone should be enough for banning ![]() Jesus loves you [yes, you] so much, he even died for you so that you will not need to die, but live forever Last edited by Warrior of the Light; 7th April 2005 at 21:43. |

Is the "guest" thing what shows up if you delete the account yourself? Maybe he deleted the account when a mod changed his CT to tracerh.

when accounts are removed the posts can be pruned away but are typically not as they can break meaningful discussion. Posts left behind after an account has been deleted become "Guest" posts, but were never actually posted as a guest.

Yes, there are still some ancient posts (2000 and 2001-ish I think) by guests. One or two came up a while ago when Bizznatch was reviving some old threads.

Also, there are a whole bunch of guest posts if you look really far back in the tech support sections.

Gather round the crackling embers forum patrons, I'll tell you a tale of winamp forum guests of yore. Twas the time of darkness, moderators roamed the barren forums twixt fledgling threads and icy beta test areas .... etc...
