Very odd problem -- 2 or 3 songs playing at once!

I have this problem that just started happening recently. I'm using the latest version of Winamp 5 and Windows XP Pro SP2. I have made no hardware changes to my system.

Often times I am listening to a music MP3 with Winamp, then all the sudden another song on the playlist starts playing by itself, and now I can hear BOTH of these Mp3s playing at the same time. This problem has been happening for the last few weeks only.

And if I click on a THIRD MP3 on my playlist, I can hear all three of them playing at once! I have been using Winamp for years and never had this problem before. I've been using Winamp 5.08 for months with no issues.

When I check my task manager, I see only ONE copy of Winamp in the list and no other media players are open. So it doesn't seem to be more than one copy of Winamp active on my computer. I have not changed my sound card drivers or hardware or anything like that.

This is weird!

Very strange behavior. Confirm that you performed a clean install (Full Uninstall -> Reinstall procedure). Install Winamp 5.08d FULL or 5.08e FULL (if you have DRM-protected WMA files). Also, make CERTAIN that you have not installed any dodgy/buggy 3rd-party authored plugin (anything at all that you might have later added that is not part of this default component list). A dodgy plugin may be effecting Winamp performance and causing this odd behavior. Temp-disable all 3rd-party authored plugins to locate the possible culprit plugin so that you can permanently discontinue using it. See/refer to this procedure --> Disabling plugins for testing purposes

Don't email or PM me concerning Winamp. Instead, either start a NEW TOPIC or post a REPLY in the appropriate thread in these forums. Uninstalling older version of 5.08, then installing 5.08e seems to do the trick. No more songs playing at the same time. So far, so good!

It's a big relief!

I can't live without my Winamp.
