sc_trans_linux and playlist
I know this has been asked and answered, but I must be using the wrong keywords in Search The Forums because I can't find it.
The question is simple... Our host that provides the streaming server is good on price but lousy on disk space. Luckily, most of our content is live, but we do some re-broadcasts of shows on the weekends and late at night. Up until now, we've had enough space to host MP3 copies of the shows, but due to some recent shows being extended from 1 or 2 hours to 3 or 4 hours, our space doesn't go far enough. We have officially run out of storage space and all this weekend I've been deleting old shows and uploading new shows until we figure out what to do. sc_trans_linux is setup fine and works fine, but we need it to somehow accept files hosted on a different server. Is there a way for this to be done through the playlist? Or by changing/adding something to the config file? Or is there any other kind of solution that anyone knows of that will automate this process? I know the boss won't go for a streaming server switch yet, we still have 7 months left on the contract. Plus I know he'll have the same thought I have ... we have tons of storage space available on the server that hosts our standard website. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank You. -- Brent |

Hello,
No - you won't be able to get sc_trans to play remotely hosted files. Do what most broadcasters do, get a dedicated playout computer located at your end. This would give much better results and you'll only be limited by hard drive size
