Newbie question, nearly there ......

First off i would like to say this is my very first post on the forum, so be easy on me lol
2nd i would like to thank the forum admins and every one connected to it, and all members for helping on board, as its been a real eye opener for me finding this forum and the reading realy been great, thanks all

Ok to my 2 questions.
I have downloaded the revelent files and folders and such, and have managed from reading the information provided, installed everything, and managed just b4 to get the radio to work
But i get a error like so (<05/10/05@22:04:31> [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave extended error (please give your station a name)

My question is, i know it might sound stupid to many but i have checked and done a serch and havent managed to find the answer, but how do i create a name for the station ???

I done quite a bit of reading and managed to get all to work, but this is the only problem i have come up with, and would be very greatfull for any help.

Also my 2nd question is, how do i give a link to my station to say some frends ???
I`m useing a spare pc i have here which is connected to the net and is a P4 3200 with over 300gb of music on one of the hdds i have in it, and it has 1.5gb of memory.

Hope i have posted in the right section, and if i have not, please forgive me, and can admin/mod please remove to revelent section.
Thanks all for any help, as i`m nearly there but still got 2 hickups as they say.

Regards

1. In your DSP plugin (the one that pops up with winamp) there is a yellowpages button on there, click that and you can do your name and genre, make it public too.
2. Very simply http://yourip:port/listen.pls

Make sure you have forwarded the right ports on your firewall and/or router www.portforward.com for this. You also need a static IP on your server computer, that is also covered on portforward site.

www.whatismyip.com for your true IP.

:D

Ok seems to be working now thanks to your help mrs_squid, for which i`m very greatfull for, thank you.
One thing thoe, m8 said he couldnt connect to it, but in the setings i get the following -

<05/10/05@23:35:17> [dest: 205.188.234.161] starting stream (UID: 0)[L: 1]{A: SHOUTcast Directory Tester}(P: 0)
<05/10/05@23:35:28> [dest: 205.188.234.161] connection closed (0 seconds) (UID: 0)[L: 0]{Bytes: 131072}(P: 0)
<05/10/05@23:35:31> [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com added me successfully
<05/10/05@23:38:32> [yp_tch] yp.shoutcast.com touched!
<05/10/05@23:43:33> [yp_tch] yp.shoutcast.com touched!

So does this mean it is now working ?
Sorry for the questions again, and i`am greatfull.

Appoligies, i made a mistake, i had not put a . in the in between one of the numbers in my IP address, sorry, all is working fine.
Thank you for all your help.

If a lot of other members had a good read, they would find it as easy as myself in connecting and seting it up.
I myself am no wizzard in such things, but have managed in reading the revelent sections and tip, have done it.

Thank you for this great service and forum, very greatfull.

Me back again every one lol
Its all runing smoothly on the radio and braudcasting front, and had a few listeners yesterdat

Ok i have a silly question, and will be looking in revelent sections for some reading, but i thought i would ask here also.

If i wish to show say a live feed from my satellite, is this permitted ???
As i dont want to break any rules, as they are there for a reason, like most board and forums have.
And i always find it best to ask b4 u jump so to speak.

I have a TV card thats got a direct feed from the satellite reciver, and what i was wondering was what other PLUGINS would i need or such to braudcast that ???

I tryed last night and added "TV_plugin_for_Winamp" & "LineIn_plugin_v1_51" but never managed to get anywere, and when i try different ways, it gave errors, and so thismorning i removed winamp and re-installed afresh again.

Alls working again as b4 i tryed, but i havent installed any other plugins ect as wanted some advice b4 doing so.
If someone could direct me via a link or something to were i might be able to do such, i would be greatfull.

Had great informative and help already and managed to get the radio working without any problems.
Thanks again in advance.

I was expecting such as the answer to be honest nick@ss
But i wanted to ask b4 even trying such.
So is a pre recorded film or movie or such ok ???
I have just read a few things and in serching i read that i needed "nsvtools-setup" so i have downloaded it.
I take it that this is all i need, and works in the same way as useing my radio ?

Thanks m8 for your input and help, i`m learning all the time, and this subject is very interesting, and informative in regards to such things as radio & tv.
You learn something new every day, but there is plenty of reading to do also, which if done, gives you all the information needed.
Like the old saying, when in doubt.....ASK as its the only way to learn.
