Smart Sync not smart

I'm not sure if this is a bug or something but here's the deal:

song count in ML = 21,
play song on ipod (playcount = 22)

plug in ipod-
check playcount in ipod, and its correct at 21.

check playcount in ML, still at 21.

Press smart sync ratings, playcounts,

now both ipod and ML say playcount = 21!

has anyone else had this problem?

thanks. dont mean to be harsh but isnt the code just something like:
if ipodcount > winampcount
then
playcount = ipodcount
else
ipodcount = winampoutcount
?

nah its more complicated than that. Smart sync is ment to resolve differences in ratings and lastplayed dates too.
So it used the last played date to discriminate which to take as correct. Clearly this is where your problem lies.

Now, I have changed it to hook up to the "last updated" date on winamp and the iPod to discriminate. Basically it works good now.

oh maybe my ipod time settings are wrong and thats why its not working?

EDIT: i (re)installed itunes, it autoupdated my clock, then i tried out the smartsync and it worked so i guess it was my clock that was the problem. i guess it got reset when i was updating ipod firmware.

so, is there anyway you could integrate a clock update before it syncs? thanks for your wokr and the great plugin! itunes sucks

Great to hear, Will. As I've posted previously, there has been a problem with lastplayed dates being deleted during smart syncing. I've tried to find some kind of pattern to it but nothing seems obvious.

I'm really looking forward to testing out your next version.
