Stereo = 2x Bandwidth?

Will broadcasting in stereo rather than mono use twice as much bandwidth, since it is two channels?

no, what happens is that half the bandwidth is given to each channel

so

if 64k stereo, each channels gets 32k, if 64k mono, one channel gets 64k.

You'll find the low bitrate streams sound terrible in stereo for this very reason.

This is only true for simple stereo.

Joint stereo only needs about 50% more bandwidth on average to get the same quality (and parametric stereo (=aac+v2) needs even less).

Fuck this place.
