Can connect on LAN but not DynDNS
I setup my server and it all runs perfectly over the LAN (using 192.168.x.x IP). But as soon as I send it through DynDNS, it doesn't seem to work. I'm using dyndns.org and I pinged it (ping myradio.gotdns.com) and it responds fully. I suspect the ports, but I opened ports 8000 and 8001. I'm using a Netgear RP614 v2. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Also, ensure that you have port forwarding setup in your router. I am using the same brand router and dyndns.org and it works fine: http://streamingnow.dyndns.org:8000/listen.pls |

When I press Ctrl-L in the Playlist and enter in my radio (nomadradio.gotdns.com:8000), it tells me [could not connect] in the Winamp PL. When I enter "nomadradio.gotdns.com:8000/listen.pls" it just kinda freezes the playlist for a second. The entry isn't put in.
There wasn't any change in the in the log when I tried to connect. When I connect to my own internal IP (192.168.2.5) it works perfectly. Here's the line when I connect via LAN. <06/01/05@08:42:20> [dest: 192.168.2.5] starting stream (UID: 5)[L: 1]{A: WinampMPEG/5.0}(P: 0) I've opened up those ports to my knowledge...as I said before, I'm using the Netgear RP614 v2. I went to the Port Forward section and added a new service (SHOUTcast). Start port was 8000 and end port 8001. The IP address for that service is 192.168.2.5, which is my computer (I use MAC reservation so it never changes). Oh yeah, I can connect to the webpage end of it too, i.e. SHOUTcast admin page. I can login and do everything, just not through my DynDNS address, only over the LAN. Any info you guys need? Thanks again guys. |

Are you sure that your DynDNS name is mapped (updated) to the correct WAN IP? -- Even though your LAN IP is static (reserved), your ISP-given, internet, public, IP address can change at any time -- A ping can't help you there, because once you "lose" an IP, someone else is likely to get it right away -- Try a tracert to your DynDNS name -- the route should not leave your LAN.

It only has one hop.
When I try to access the webpage, http://nomadradio.gotdns.com:8000, it tells me connection connection was refused. Oh yeha, I'm using Mozilla FIrefox... And also, I checked my IP, it's correct. I tried manually using my IP, still doesn't work. ADDITION: I just saw this one new connection...wasn't anyone I knew. Could it be that I can't loopback for some reason? I don't know... I opened up 8000 and 8001...like I said, LAN works fine and dandy, but not through DynDNS... |
