Question Formatting Question for ipod use

newbie question. I have an ipod (6gb) that is already associated with itunes and am attempting to use another full ipod (30gb color). When I plug it in Itunes wants me to format it and erase all the data, when I don't the drive is not recognized. How can I get Winamp to recognize this other ipod without erasing all the data on it?

winamp 5.09, mlpod 1.2, windows xp in case it matters

thanks,

Rhett

If you try to access the new iPod from "My Computer" does Windows complain that the drive is not formatted? Does the 30g Photo already have music on it? If it has music on it and works, but Windows does not recognise it, then that iPod is probably formatted for an Macintosh and not for a PC.

You can get software that will allow Windows PC's to recognise Apple Macintosh formatted drives. This may work for you, but I have no experience with this.
