Capture Card Compatibility Thread

Inedible Bulk had the ingenious suggestion of having a thread where users could post their experiences with different capture cards. Hopefully a mod will sticky this.

Hauppage WinTV
Unknown model (says 61001 on it, idk tho)
Status: Works perfectly
Notes: Gave no problems. Even ran this card at D1 (720x480) resolution.

ATI All-In-Wonder
Radeon 8500DV
Status: Works perfectly
Notes: Gave no problems at any resolution. Even has a Firewire input so DV cameras can be used.

Dvico FusionHDTV
III Gold w/QAM
Status: Works
Notes: Only analog channels work, ATSC can't be used. You need to set the card up with the audio cable running to your soundcard's CD sound input. The "Sound over PCI" feature they have doesn't work with NSV. Besides that, card works fine at all resolutions.

NSV downloads
An in-depth step by step guide for newbies, coming soon.

Anything with a Brooktree 848 and 878 chip that I've tried has worked. That includes STB and Hauppage cards. These work at up to 640X480. These are older cards, so you might not find them new.

I have an MSI 8606 too. It works at 352X240, but will not do higher rezzes unless you use the hardware MPEG.

For a < $40 video card, these work great. Your computer is gonna need some real juice to encode live at a rez that is much more than that anyway.

This would be a good thread to sticky.

Surely any card should work so long as it is configured correctly

what about external USB adapters???

I read that PCI cards work better with nsvcap but if I want to use it with my desktop + labtop I need an external device.

Should be cheap and work @ 320x240 px

Anyone any experience???

Hello ken52787

What of those cards you mention is the best according to your experience in order to connect a TV cable and broadcast thru a ShoutCast dedicated server?
