How do you get more listeners?

I think many people would like to know the answer to this question, how do you get more listeners? I know keeping a good collection of music, upping your listeners (if capable) and broadcasting high bitrates (if capable) and good dj'ing helps, but I was wondering are there any ways to do free advertising for your station. I just want to know how to attract people to my station.
(BTW, this isn't against rules, right? It's just a discussion on how to get more people)

Nope a discussion isn't against the rules, advertising here is.

but just a few pointers.

goto your local newspaper and see if they are willing to print a story about your local station ( do this only when you are legal)

make flyers and hand them out in the shopping mall.

place an add in that local paper.

search this forum , because i know that this has been asked before and answered before , maybe in those threads you can find more pointers.

^^ Yeah, but it makes it only for online use doesn't it, I mean, I want them to be able to click a link for RealPlayer and WMP and it start playing on their software from their desktop, basically, I don't want it web-based, how would I use the WebcasterU without it being web-based?

Use whatever resorces you can lay your hand on.

Get some friends involed in it and if you can get the permissions from other site admins post there or look for affiliates to do a link exchange with if you have your own site that is.

Good planning of your shows will help as a relyable sevice stands a much better chance than one that might be on air or playing what they say.

I could rattle on forever but it's late and these old bones need so shut eye.

forming a chatroom on your site and hanging out and becoming resident in a public chatroom will always get you extra listeners,

once you have a community working for you it becomes an easier job
