Read everything - server not seeing upstream connection attempts

Hi -

Yeah, I RTFM before I posted here.......don't have the port forwarding issue, not running behind a firewall, server has port 8000 and 8001 open, etc. I'm running linux.

The problem: The server sees connections on port 8000 just fine, but doesn't even see the upstream on 8001 - not even giving me an error message, just doesn't see the connection attempt at all.

When I try to connect to the listen port, it gives me the "server unavailable, disconnecting" message as I'd expect.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Remote server? Local server?

If local, make sure you are connecting to 127.0.0.1

Also if using the shoutcast DSP, the port should be set in the DSP to 8000 (confusing, I know - but when you set that to 8000, it actually connects on 8001)

Hope this is helpful

Thanks - the server is remote, and I'm using the Shoutcast DSP. It doesn't connect on either 8000 or 8001 though

Okay - check all programs on your source PC for possible meddling - Cybersitter, for example, has been known to block outbound ports. If you can eliminate all PC "security" software as a cause of the inability to connect, it might be time to contact the host of the shoutcast server and see if they can lend a hand...
