Can ml_ipod play music direct from the ipod?
Hi all,
This may sound a really stupid question but can ml_ipod play the music files direct from my ipod, without the files being on my computer? I have a laptop in my car with a small 10gb hard drive and want to be able to play all my music direct from my 20gb ipod, does this plugin allow you do to this? If so how? I presumed that this is partly what the plugin was made for but in searching these forums I saw someone mentioned that this functionality is not possible. Can anyone help a foolish newbie?! |

Yes, it can...
I saw that post, too, saying that it wasn't possible... but it is.
Most of my music is stored on my desktop PC but I often plug my iPod into my laptop and use WinAmp/ml_iPod to listen to music that isn't on the laptop. Since it isn't on the laptop and I'm hearing it I can only assume it's playing off the iPod! |

Yes, when you browse your iPod in the media library via the ml_ipod plugin, anything you play from there is played from the files on your ipod.
With one exception: If you play something from your iPod that is synched-with or is in your local music library files, Winamp actually plays it from your local version of the song. |

Thanks for all the replies,
I got it working... it just me being dozey. The problem was that I had far more .mp4 files than I thought on my ipod and they weren't playing in winamp. As soon as I selected an album with mp3s in, it worked perfectly. I assume I can just download a plugin to get this working with mp4s. Thanks again, Timbo |
