Drag 'n Drop is now not available for public download.
I don't know when it will come back. |

Joonas,
Thank you for developing d&d for as long as you did. If I stopped using it it was only because lately I've been spending most of my play time on a different os. Best wishes, M |

It's the same feeling, as when you wrote a Winamp documentation, 62038 downloads, the only mails I got, were mails from people, who asked for technical Winamp support.
![]() Sure, profit is nice, but giving something to the community is a nice feeling too. Take a look at DrO, he made tons of plug-ins, his plug-ins are amazing, he and his plug-ins were the reason, why I'm still interested in the Winamp community. Most people are not interested in paying for software, they look for freeware or they'll download keygens So don't worry, you've talent, one day you will make money with coding, but don't expect too much from a very small Winamp plug-in.

But still, the plugin is around so those who have it can use it. I am just tired of this community that's all. No offense ![]() [edit] Or, rather, the community is fine. I just don't feel I get the feedback I want/expects. It's probably just me [/edit] |

I respect your decision, but I still hope you'll come back someday.
![]() [edit]Yeah, I expected more feedback too, but never forget, some people don't speak english etc. But I can see were are you comming from. ![]() With money, I don't mean your job, I guess you'll maybe make some extra money with your coding skills. (But I doubt, that this will happen with a small kick ass plug-in like D&D) My Winamp Info Report Own Projects: | Nullsoft Tray Control Icon Pack v3.1 | Winamp Essentials Pack v5.63a | Winamp Backup Tool v1.0 | >> Winamp Info Tool v4.0 << | German Translations: | Offizielle Deutsche Winamp Sprachdatei v5.63 | Offizielle Deutsche Winamp Sprachdatei Plus Version 5.63 | Useful Winamp Plug-ins: | SNESAmp | 64th Note | NotSo FatSo | in_zip | Highly Experimental PSF Player | Yar Matey! No, it's not just you. If you look at tech support, how many people come back after they got their answer just to say thank you? Not many. Most of them just make a single post with some lame question, you take the time to answer it but you never hear whether it even helped.
As long as people are satisfied you won't hear them, only when something's wrong you'll notice. It's a bit of a world of taking, and never giving back or thanking. I can see how that's unsatisfactory at times. I've thought of stopping with tech support many times, but somehow it's addictive, I dunno... ![]() And then there's still the times you really help out someone who's actually thankful, those are the nice moments. So I see where you're coming from, but still, it would be a pity to see the DND plugin go. It's a very popular plugin. |

Feedback, however much it critisises, also contibutes positively to the authors mentality. The author begins to feel that his work is being looked at. Folks who use softwares and other freewares should bear this in mind and pass a comment however small it may be! I do this! In fact, I make it a habit to write to every person whose software I use ... even if its a little mail that floods his mailbox ![]() Joonas, we appreciate your work, the time you have put in to help this community and the effort you take to keep us updated through the schedule you have of your real life! Thanks & Cheers! |

Joonas i love the DnD plugin and i don't know what i'd do without it so i'm sorry to see you won't be developing it anymore. Before you nail the casket shut though could there at least be a 1.5 final? Release Candidate takes up so much space and ruins the pseudo-columns
![]() Again thanks for all the time and effort you've put in. Hopefully you'll get more of the response you were expecting in the future with your other plugins/coding endevours. Request: A little SmartView Query Language love. |

The Drag 'n Drop plugin will return later tonight. It will be a shareware plugin though. I know a lot of you won't like that, but it's always a choice in everything.
It'll only be five bucks anyway so most people should be able to afford it, if they like the plugin. The release will be 2.0 and it will come in two versions; unicode and ansi (?). They are identical except that the unicode version will not work in older OS's that doesn't handle unicode (read: Windows 98). Regards, Joonas |

I just, once again, thought that it would be great to be able to drag and drop files from the Winamp Media Library or playlist, googled for it, and found your plugin.
Great that someone had the same thought already. I installed it but it didn't seem to work. I even updated to Winamp 5.32 (i think it was 5.3 before) and tried an older Version (dragndrop v1.4.0.4 ). It took me a while till i read through this thread until i finally found the actual way to use it. First i read STRG-ALT, then STRG-Shift, and (several desperate hours) later finally right-click. My fault was, that i didn't read the info hidden in the EULA and the later posts of this thread. But then again, who expects to find ambiguous misleading information on something that seems so obvious. Therefore i suggest, that you supply some kind of readme, update the first post of this thread and your website, so that others don't run into the same kind of odyssey when trying to get this plugin to work. Besides that, it seems to work just as expected. At least from the playlist, not from the Media Library. Great work, Joonas

Crashing Winamp...
Having some problems with Winamp... I (re)downloaded Drag-and-Drop, and having some intense "how does this work" issues
(read through 4 pages of this...perhaps consider adding instructions to your download page?), I found that Drag n' drop crashes winamp when I try to use it. I right-click, drag to folder, Winamp thinks for a minute, and crashes. I'm using the current version of the plug-in and the paid version of Winamp 5.24.Thank you so much in advance. |

Okay, the problem was (and I guess others might have experienced it) that the Unicode version requires Winamp 5.3 or later. I have made an update to the plugin so it will warn if you are using an too old version for unicode.
I've also added a short instruction on how to use it at my homepage. Suggestions are welcome. http://nunzioweb.com/joonas/dnd |

Did you recently add the usage instructions? I thought it never worked till I read that and noticed I had to use the "left click" to move songs. Thanks for this wonderful plugin.

Great work Joonas
Hi Joonas,
I just downloaded your drag and drop application and I think its great. But I think the length of time you've been on this project and the lack of recognition or feedback has taken its toll on you. As a programmer myself I know whats its like to work long crazy hours often with little acknowledgment or compensation. I do think its encouraging that you've taken the Shareware route thereby formalizing your relationship with your users. My own two cents is not to be shy about charging for your work or raising its price. However it might help to be aware of how one might reduce initial frustration with your users by having a FAQ section. It took me quite a while to find out how the program worked. Please do keep on perfecting your creation. It's appreciated and needed. On my XP Sp2 Windows system my pet wish item is for the Drag and Drop to be able to work with a Windows Explorer CD window. Keep up with great programs! Ted |

Thanks for your kind words ![]() I really should get around to write a FAQ that is true. Right now I am devoting all my spare time to the next version of Dynamic Library but the dnd plugin will get a new version later on as well, as it will incorporate some of the playlist features for DL. A question though, what do you mean by this? Quote:

Jonas,
In my comment I am refering to myself having difficulty dragging and dropping a music file to an explorer window opened on a CD Drive window. When I drag a file over to the window nothing seems to happen. The drag and drop works just find on an ordinary directory folder that is not a CD drive. Ted |

Jonas,
I concur with your assessment. It should be a standard call. Copying playlist files to any folder other then a CD Window folder seems to work just fine. Maybe there is a conflict with some other program on my system? Thank you Ted |

Jonas,
In answering your question: "Can you drag 'n drop from some other program to this CD Drive Window?...." The answer is YES. I can drag and drop from another explorer window or from the desktop to an open CD Explorer folder and burn a CD with no problem. Ted |

My bad. I am attempting to describe the state of Microsoft File Explorer when it is currently engaged with a CD-ROM drive. I was attempting to use drag and drop to copy files from the playlist to the CD-Rom folder on File Explorer and then burning them. Ted |

I tried to remember any other program I might have used but it seems that I don't have any other programs for dragging and dropping files into the File Explorer CD Window. Ted |
