server with "by bandwith" plan (not slots)??

Hi,

Is there any other shoutcast server out there that offers "by bandwith" plan?? Cause I don't find any!!

(I mean plan in which you pay for the amount of bandwith, not slots)

On all the other shoutcast hosts, I don't know why I'll pay 50 slots on 128 kbps if I don't want my radio to play everytime!

A plan "by bandwith" is ideal for me.

If you know any other similar plans, please tell me.

and :

Is this one a joke :
http://www.talex*****audio_prices.php :
unlimited listeners at 128 kbps for only 40$...

Thank you,

Patrick

Just got a reply from talex.tv (very interesting) :

Hi Patrick,

Absolutely!

"It works in much the same way as P2P fileshare clients except that instead of downloading files, the users download streams. These streams are then exchanged in real-time with other users. No data is stored locally on any machine connected to the network. Users can only distribute (relay) the stream when the user is actively listening to or viewing the streaming media. If the user disconnects, all distributing is stopped and any downstream users are immediately redirected to the Talex.TV server or other distributing users without interruption or skipping."

The above quote is taken from http://www.talex*****technology.php

In essence ... the more users connected = the more additional users that can connect.

We look forward to helping you get the most out of your media.

Sincerely,
Talex TV Customer Service

3- don't post private e-mails, it's not a decent thing to do.

I've just read on dedicated server.
It's around 200$ a year!
Why would I pay that if I get what I need for 11.99$ on serverroom.us?!?

Why are you asking us?

Seriously, what's the point? If you want to pay $150/year ($12 @ 12 months) and absorb overage charges if you exceed your allocated transfer rate, do it. But do some basic math first. Factor in your upstream *to* their servers as well as listeners downstreaming, as the 30GB limit probably applies to both incoming and outgoing traffic.

just talk to the serverroom guy :
ONLY the outgoing traffic applies in the limit!

(and I did a mistake previously :
dedicated server not 200$/ year , but MONTHLY)

200 for a dedicated is too much. I pay 49.00 a month for my cheapest and 199 for the most expensive but it's on an unmetered bandwidth connection (thus the high price).

a 30 Gb limit? I could use that up in less than one day. Hell, here's one for 89 a month with 1800 gb of bandwidth - easily enough to host 100 64k streams or 50 128k streams as well as your website and such:

Plenty more of them out there just like that too.

But who cares??? Why are you sharing this with the forum?

This thread, and forum, is not supposed to be used for advertising (you're beginning to sound like you work for them) so why not just quietly make a decision on stream hosts and move on?

And I'm having Deja Vu here http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....hreadid=226484

try www.waveform.net to start off with. its a dedicated server for only $69. sure the amount of bandwidth is smaller than most, but its alot cheaper and a good way to start if your looking for that type of plan.
