Any Media Players that store Ratings in ID3v2 tag
HAve been waiting for Winamp to begin better supporting ID3v2 tags but so far to little avail. My chief interest is having the song rating stored in the audio file itself as part of the Rating tag.
So since Winamp isn't doing this, are there any other media players that do? It seems that most do it the same way that Winamp does, by having its own library database. When file names or locations are changed, there goes the db data. |

My suggestion would be to add it into the comment field field as x no. of stars.

I think that id3 tags should be upgraded for a version 2.5 that would have a special tag for ratings. That would probably be the only way to ensure consistency.

ID3v3 already has Rating tag
ID3v2 already has a Rating tag as part of its Priority frame; however, most media players use their own databases for storing rating information.
Don't want to use the comment tag workaround. Its a very inefficient way to use ratings. Wanted to know if any players are actually usuing the ID3v2 rating tag to store ratings in the actual audio file. |

I have not personly found any player that places ratings in the tags.
However i have used this plugin on and off and it is a good way to back up your ratings. As i move my files around occationally i have found it very useful. http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....hreadid=178785 It is a manual work around but it is what there is until hopefully something changes. |
