Ever since I upgraded from 2.61 and also now with 2.62, I can not get the"associate with audio cd" box to stay checked. I have gone as far as to remove and reinstall as well as go into Windows Folder Options and assign Audio CD to Winamp. Every time I restart the computer the box is unchecked. BTW......I do not have Musicmatch and everything else works fine.

Yeah, me too - since I upgraded, I cannot get the 'associate with CDs' box to remain checked. Any help would be appreciated, cheers, Moosey!

do you have the CDA extension selected in the list above that check box? if not, select it and see if that helps. if you already have it selected, enable the winamp agent to retain control of your cd player. (preferences -- setup -- agent check all three boxes)

This appears to be a bug in 2.62 that you cannot unassociate with audio cds. Even if you click on another sub-section in the preferences list, when you click back to "file types" the associate with audio cds is reselected. Very annoying since you have to beat winamp down with a stick to copy cds.

OK - here is a workaround for this unbelievably irritating problem. It's obviously a registry issue but as to what causes it I don't know. I remember Explorer crashing before I lost the ability to associate with audio CDs so that could be a the culprit.

Anyway - the workaround. Simply remove Microsoft's CD player app and then reinstall it. This seems to correct the registry problem, setting CD player as the default player. Now you should be able to make the reassociation stick in Winamp.

As a side note, why don't I have 'AudioCD' listed as a file type on my machine? And what is the file extension for it anyway?

Cheers.

I got the same problem.

I did recently install MusicMatch though, even though I hear people without MusicMatch are having the same problems.

HELP!

the file type for cd audio is .cda

in versions 2.61-2.64 i am able to set and unset the associate with cds box whenever i feel like it. i usually leave it off because i don't like winamp playing cds. (or wav's for that matter)
