a first time setup guide for Linux

Does anyone know where I can get a step by step setup guide for a linux server? I have shoutcast up and running (on demand) and have been able to play mp3's via the URL mydomain.com:8000/content/my_mp3.pls. I am about 1 hour into using this for the first time and want to get up to speed on how to broadcast as a radio station. I would also like to know where I can list my streaming server for people to find. any help would be greatly appreciated. (maybe a sample .conf)

details: Server is Linux ES3 with plenty of bandwidth.

I found a pretty good tutorial at http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/shoutcast-config.xml.
