WA for Win95
I tested this neat little trick on an old Win95 System...
(if you still use a Win95 you're in the right place) First I installed Winamp 5 -It's sooo SLOW-& a lot of the addons are useless SO I uninstalled Winamp 5 Modern skin is unusable...NOT ENOUGH RAM! Then I went looking for the old wa2 which has no MAJOR video acceleration, no modern interface, etc... I found oldversion.com & used winamp2 I then installed the latest winamp5 over the wa2, this time without all those addons & only with: tiny fullscreen(really cool) WA2 has this nice minivisual, pops on top of the visual I tried it & it's much better! Now it has all these files which normally don't play on Win95!!! Tell me if this trick works for you

firstly optimising winamp installs has been documented, commented on many times and it has been publicised _many_ times that modern skins aren't intended for older systems.
secondly you didn't need to install 2.x and then install a custom 5.x install over the top, just installing the custom 5.x would have done the same. thirdly this isn't really related to the dev forum so i'm moving it... -daz |
