Royalty questions?
Where can I start in finding out about royalties? I am interested in starting a station and just wish to make sure everything is done legally. Can anyone provide me with a resourse to begin.
Thanks for your time, Jim |

Ok, I read through that and have been looking around. Other than doing all of the reporting myself. are their any places that allow you to place links on your own site. IE: not have to launch from their site.
Thanks for your help all, Jim |

No. ASCAP, SESAC, BMI and SoundExchange are the entities involved here (For US Webcasters) and the license to webcast is issued by Domain. Presumably they issue licenses by domain to make it easier to identify legal stream links.
You can license your domain directly with the above associations, at considerable cost, or you can go with an Aggregator like LoudCity (for SHOUTcast stations) or Live365 |
