Best Crossfading?
Hello,
Okay, I hope someone can help. I'm looking for the best crossfading solution for winamp that will broadcast well. I've tried http://www.sqrsoft.com.ar/en/index.html which I found when using DOTME's tutorial http://www.allinternetradio.com/sg-station.asp but I don't like how this crossfader creates an IE popup all the time... it's annoying! : ) I've also noticed that Winamp seems to have some sort of "experimantal" crossfader that I can see when I go to Preferences/Plugins/Output -- Nullsoft Crossfading Output Is this option good? What do you seasoned pros out there suggest? Please help... much appreciated! |

Hey bluefuze - There's a free version of that crossfader that does not have the popup. I have it - there's a checkbox that turns the pop-up off completely.
Go to the maker's website and hunt around. I'm not at my main PC this evening, otherwise I'd send you a link. Post in the morning if you're stuck and I'll find it. I had great success with the SQRSoft crossfader when I was using Winamp to stream. The built-in Winamp one sounds great... except it doesn't work in the stream. Only locally. If you implement SQRSoft, it's important to set the DSP/Effect in Winamp to "None" (Turn off the SHOUTcast DSP Plugin there) and then add the Shoutcast DSP Plugin within the SQRSoft crossfader. That way, your stream is crossfaded. I used Winamp and SQRSoft for the first 5 months until I scrounged up enough cash for SAM3. |

Thanks DOTME, I'll give it another go-round. I noticed that it initially wasn't working that great over the stream... but I'll try your suggestions and see how it goes.
I'm curious about "SAM3"... what is that? I've seen it mentioned a couple of times... I could Google it, but I'd rather hear what you have to say about it. Thanks again! |

SAM3 replaced Winamp/SQRSoft and the SHOUTcast DSP for me in August. I've never looked back. It's in the mid-range on price for DJ software. I guess it's one of those things where you either love it, or hate it. They do offer a 2 week full-featured free trial when you get to the point where Winamp doesn't cut it any more. It took me almost that long to discover everything it can do...lol

Hi DOTME
I can't find the specific download file you're talking about... you still have the link? |

Hi DOTME
I got it working... the preferences for the plugin are a bit confusing, so I never saw the checkbox to turn off the popups at first. All seems good now... and streaming correctly too. This crossfader does work better than the experimental Winamp one. Thanks again for all your help! |
