In v5.094 if you uncheck video support in screen 2, in screen 3, "Associate with video files" isnt even an option.

In 5.12, its present and its checked by default.

WMA and WMV support has been combined into one plug-in, this also allows for DRM protected WMV files to be played. But if you install WMA/WMV support, the option for Video will be there.

Yup. This is a feature, not a bug.
It's also kinda explained in the release notes in the 5.12 sticky thread.
