Desktop Player

I have the newest version of Winamp Player 5.1 w/aac plus and use it for Streams and playing CDs. Its a great player. In fact my favorite, so this is my question.

Can the Winamp Player be made to stay on my desktop all the time? Right now I have the icons in my toolbar and on my desktop that I click on to start the player.

What I would like is for the player to be on my desktop already when I sign on to my computer. Then all I have to do is put in a cd or start a music stream. Instead of clicking the icon to see the player.

I just want it on my desktop all the time. Is it possible? Thanks

John

Had you considered placing a shortcut to C:\Program Files\Winamp\winamp.exe (or where ever the main Winamp executable file is located) in the Startup folder?

Or, try DrO's Time Restore & Autoplay plug-in. It has a load Winamp at Windows startup option and also has a number of different auto-play options.

A quick addition/revision to JM's post:

There is an updated version of TRAP, 2.0 beta, which you should probably download instead of 1.85. It is more stable, and something which DrO would probably also suggest.

Ok I clicked on your link and downloaded/saved it to my computer in my documents. Then it asked me if I wanted to run Winamp. I said yes and then started a stream at www.stickman-radio.com I then left it running and stayed logged on and restarted my computer.

When I my desktop was up and running again the winamp didnt start. I tried it several times, and it doesnt work. As before I have to click on the icon to start the player. So Im back to where I started

Am I doing it wrong? Why wont it automaticaly start up when I sign on?

“Then it asked me if I wanted to run Winamp”
I think that was a installer to run Winamp after installing the plug-in. Is the plug set to auto load Winamp and play...

Winamp > Ctrl+P > Plug-ins > General Purpose > double click 'Time Restore and AutoPlay'

Ok, I didnt know I was still supposed to download the first one that JohnnyMac mentioned. Duh! That comes from being a non techie type person. Wish I were!

But now Ive downloaded the plugin & the installer. I left it on and restarted my computer. It started up automatically right where it was when I shut down. So its doing exactly what I want it to do.

Thank You Guys! I appreciate all your help. I hope you dont mind but Im going to let others know about it also.

Either one would do actually. Jmat's link is the updated version of TRAP. I think a typo in my reply may have been confusing...

should have been

I think that was a installer option to run Winamp after installing the plug-in.
Either way, it is now working for you and that is what counts.

Its been two years since my last visit here for help. I Love Winamp! And its always worked well for me. When I DID have problems they always were worked out! I had completely forgotten about this plugin. Im on a brand new lap top and just added it. Still works great. I love having it start up and start playing exactly where it was when i shut my computer down. Thanks DrO \m/
