you can find the relivent answers here on how to setup your feed
Faq

some stations starting out only play "when online" or at the members preferd time you could go that way at the beginning. however a dedicated server or indeed shoutcast hosting are not cheap but it would depend on how many slots/bitrate you can find some great hosts here Radio Tool box

as far as licencing go i belive you will still need it weather your streaming a 30second clip or a full song, owning the cd with all the clips on means nothing due to when you buy a cd its for personal and private use only and not for broadcasting you may want to check here for licencing Loudcity however there is a loophole if you play unsigned media or licence free you can find alot of this music online also and a quick e-mail to the group for permission is basicly all it takes and no licence is needed for this at all.

you can download alot of free "bells and stuff" wav files from many websites google is a usefull tool however sweepers and promos and adverts all cost.

i hope this helps somewhat how ever nothings free in the world of online broadcasting theres always a cost down the line

well i had a bunch of sound effects i got from free
sources online and from radiodaddy.com i made mistake starting out playing some parody songs that were only available online or partial clips of songs or 7 secs of a song Any kinda of royalty free music promo or promos are fine ? my podcasts are 1 hour usually 50-100megs using audacity at 16bit 11025 to keep file size low and mono

i cant be sure if the stuff i have tho is considered royalty free most are 7 or 30 sec music beds from radio daddy that are generic others are 7 or 30 secs of a mixutre of songs (like turning a radio dial thru 4 radio stations playing music) or 30-50 secs of a parody song thats edited is there a setting to make mp3s smallers with audacity?

1 maybe an embedded player will do what you need,
http://www.streamsolutions.co.uk/embedded/

2 if you require a stream host that you can upload your content to and leave it running then check out the 24/7 links below as we offer this service.

you wont be able to do it from your webserver unless you have a dedi server with the right access.

any questions on our service then check out our site or forums..

3 http://www.loudcity.net wil answer all your license queeries better than most around here,

4 bells and jingles can be downloaded from the net or any file sharing software as i have managed to get them before

i hope this helps
