I would assume that it was done using avisynth or ffdshow... It doesn't appear to be a live stream, so that is the most likely guess, otherwise they used some sort of editing program to do it for them as well. Why would you want letterbox and not actual widescreen though? I could see if you were switching between 4:3 and 16:9 video, so as to not stretch the 16:9 stuff, but why would you want a whole stream that way?

Search for these files at sourceforge.net. ffdshow is mpeg4 codecs. I'm not exactly sure how to describe avisynth, sort of a file muxer I guess.
Virtualdub from fcchandler.home.comcast.net is also something you want to play with video. |

avisynth
AviSynth is a powerful tool for video post-production. It provides almost unlimited ways of editing and processing videos. www.avisynth.org ffdshow ffdshow is DirectShow and VFW codec for decoding/encoding many video and audio formats, including DivX and XviD movies using libavcodec, xvid and other opensourced libraries with a rich set of postprocessing filters. http://ffdshow.sourceforge.net/tikiw...w_articles.php VirtualDub A video capture/processing utility for 32-bit Windows platforms (95/98/ME/NT4/2000/XP), licensed under the GNU General Public License (GPL). It lacks the editing power of a general-purpose editor such as Adobe Premiere, but is streamlined for fast linear operations over video. fcchandler.home.comcast.net Scenic Television is your ambient window to the world - - www.ScenicTelevision.com |

Nah, you'd use these to create video and then encode it to nsv.

If you are running a live stream, why do you want letterboxed video anyway? If you have 16:9 content, then use a 16:9 resolution, I still don't quite see the advantage to letterboxing it.

Whatever you pick you'll have to live with, because all the files you encode have to be the same as far as rez, audio bitrate and framerate. So pick carefully.
Also, another thing you should be aware of is that aspect ratio doesn't work, so your aspect is gonna be whatever the pixels say it is... so 320x240 is gonna be 4x3 etc. I think when you do create your encoding profile, that you want to encode so that artifacting isn't evident. I looked at about a 500 pixel wide stream recently. It would have looked better if it had been less wide. I think the ugliest thing is artifacting, so drop the frame rate and the resolution until that's minimal. The additional rez doesn't do any good if artifacts are highly evident. |

Well, you can stream using a widescreen resolution, that when fullscreened will give the exact same look... Or you might be able to set something up using Camtasia or the like.

Hi everyone:
I think what he's asking is if he can stream live and have the puppy cam widescreen look - As shown on the Puppy Cam stream. Am I correct? If so, I'm not sure the owner of that station would appreciate your rebroadcasting their station on yours without asking them first. There are some stations that will let you do it with no problem at all while others will have a cow the size of Asia if you do and they catch you. And still there are others who get - with permission - their programming from third party sources and if you were to relay any of THOSE stations during such times when such programming is on the air, you'll have TWO parties to deal with. The station you relayed AND the owner or host of the program that was airing on the station you relayed. Anyway you look at, it's not cool. So, if you don't want to land in some serious hot water, you'd be best to follow the rules of proper SHOUTcasting. ![]() Just a piece of advice ![]() Cheers ![]() Pat (a.k.a.
