You Probably Hear This A Lot, But...
OH FOR THE LOVE OF GOD...THIS PROGRAM HATES ME!
*ahem* Ok. I've followed the fifteen basic steps to the letter. I've changed my password, and changed the port to 8000 in the sc_serv.ini file. I've also configured SHOUTcast Source with "localhost" as the address, and 8000 as the port. I have set my firewall to allow ports 8000, and 8001, and disabled Windows Firewall completely. I open start the GUI up, and it looks like everything is running smoothly. It's listening for connections. So, I go and open up Winamp. Now, here's my problem. It won't let me connect. I push the button, and it does absolutely nothing. Nothing at all. What does this program want from me?! Just in case it helps, here's a bit of the log file. <02/19/06@03:42:44> [SHOUTcast] DNAS/win32 v1.9.5 (Dec 27 2004) starting up... <02/19/06@03:42:44> [main] loaded config from C:\Program Files\SHOUTcast\sc_serv.ini <02/19/06@03:42:44> [main] initializing (usermax:32 portbase:8000)... <02/19/06@03:42:44> [main] No ban file found (sc_serv.ban) <02/19/06@03:42:44> [main] No rip file found (sc_serv.rip) <02/19/06@03:42:44> [main] opening source socket <02/19/06@03:42:44> [main] source thread starting <02/19/06@03:42:44> [main] opening client socket <02/19/06@03:42:44> [source] listening for connection on port 8001 <02/19/06@03:42:44> [main] Client Stream thread [0] starting <02/19/06@03:42:44> [main] client main thread starting |

I do have the DSP... It's still not working. Here's a screencap of my problem.

When I have the DNAS running, and I go to my own IP address in IE, with port 8000, I see the SHOUTcast D.N.A.S Server Status Page.
"Server Status: Server is currently down." Please tell me I'm missing something really obvious, and simple. Ok... I'm also able to log in to my server. "Log file: C:\Program Files\SHOUTcast\sc_serv.log Configuration file: C:\Program Files\SHOUTcast\sc_serv.ini Name lookups are off Intro file is disabled Backup file is disabled Auto client disconnects are disabled Source idle timeouts are 30s Incoming interface: ANY:8001 - Outgoing interface: ANY:8000 Get XML Stats: [Yes] Reset XML Stats: [Yes]" |

does the dsp return an error on the connect button?
make sure yo have all the encoders set and outputs set is it set from winamp or soundcard? make sure you have music playing when you press connect and valid mp3s only, have you added the right password? as you say the server is awaiting connections so it points back to the dsp configured incorrectly |

Somebody tried connecting to my sever at least 100 times. Each time it happened, this line made it's way into my logs.
<02/19/06@19:46:55> [dest: 68.248.215.58] server unavailable, disconnecting |

I feel kind of dirty triple posting like this. But, I want to make sure this thread stays near the top.
Ok, I tried using a program called Oddcast. It gives me the error message "Unable to connect to socket". Any ideas? |

Im not %100 sure but from the screencapture it looks like you might have the port as "0000" on the DSP. That would make it not work. Re-check all the information. Also re-install shoutcast on your pc, this time install it as a "GUI" version.
