Hi everyone:

In a word - No.

You cannot convert from NSV to AVI or any other method.

I don't know, I've had pretty good luck with mencoder. You can also use VLC.

Yep. Don't transcode the audio. Set VLC or mencoder to copy it so that you aren't adding a generation to your audio.

I have this program called NSVD (I can't remember where I got it from, I've had it for quite a while) and it can demux an NSV file back into an AVI (keeps the exact same information so you could probably have some luck opening it in VirtualDub or something if you still want to convert it to something else). Also, the program can output to an MKV (matrosoka) and the audio doesn't have to be put with the video, it can be placed in a separate file. So, far I haven't really had any glitches in using it, just had problems with going into MKV and using h.264 in general.

I have the same problem to convert nsv to avi. I found a link to convert nsv to dvd, but cannot directly convert to avi or mpeg. Any help would be appreciated. Also I searched NSVD, but nothing was found.

Believe it or not, this utility does allow you to convert .NSV video to any other format and it's free to boot!

http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html

Never would have believed it had I not tried it, but it works and does an excellect job. Enjoy!

Really? I have SUPER from erighsoft, but conversion from nsv to the other formats always failed. Maybe i screwed something with the settings. Or...should i install FFMPEG NSV demuxer or maybe NSV DIVX encoder-decoder plugin? I don't know. All i have installed is divx pro, xvid, microsoft codecs, lame mp3 and maybe few other codecs that came together with players. Otherwise i use SUPER to convert flv's encoded with vp6 codec and it works great. Also enables me to convert ram to avi....etc. Just by nsv files always failed. Please, i need advice how to set SUPER to convert nsv and what else should i install.

It depends on the stream...

Based on my own experiments with Super, the stream you are trying to convert needs to be.

vp6.1, vp3.1, Theora
AAC or MP3(Not AAC+)

VP6.2 doesn't work. AACP wont convert either.

Actually yes, you can convert NSV to avi using the NSVDemuxer. Works well. Except .... I've been converting it fine, but it only does about 50% of the video. No matter how small I chop it (with other tools) the thing only converts about 1/2.

Has anyone else run into this and if so, what's the solution???

Many thanks,
