Genre on linux?!
Can someone tell me the steps to setting my Genre using a linux server?

yep ... it shouldbe in the sc_serv config file under something like server description (sorry I can not be more specific, but I am not on my linux box right now)...

but there is no genre setting, the is only like the server name and stuff |

The genre settings come from the DSP or transcoder not the server itself. So if you are using the winamp DSP, you click on the YELLOW PAGES buttong and fill in all your inforamtion including genra. Using the transcoder (sc_trans) in the conf file you will see a line simular to this:
; StreamTitle/URL/Genre define the data that appears on the directory and in the ; stream info. StreamTitle=Dude this is a cook title!
