DSP doesnt connect when i click CONNECT
hello, i was just wondering whats going on here, becuase i installed shoutcast on my website through SSH and everything istalled fine, then i navigated to the folder where i have the radio and typed in ./sc_serv sc_serv.conf and i got this
Event log: <03/06/06@23:26:38> [SHOUTcast] DNAS/Linux v1.9.2 (Nov 25 2002) starting up... <03/06/06@23:26:38> [main] pid: 17140 <03/06/06@23:26:38> [main] loaded config from sc_serv.conf <03/06/06@23:26:38> [main] initializing (usermax:1000 portbase:8888)... <03/06/06@23:26:38> [main] No ban file found (sc_serv.ban) <03/06/06@23:26:38> [main] No rip file found (sc_serv.rip) <03/06/06@23:26:38> [main] opening source socket <03/06/06@23:26:38> [main] source thread starting <03/06/06@23:26:38> [main] opening client socket <03/06/06@23:26:38> [main] Client Stream thread [0] starting <03/06/06@23:26:38> [main] client main thread starting <03/06/06@23:26:38> [source] listening for connection on port 8889 <03/06/06@23:33:04> [sleeping] 0 listeners (0 unique) so from what i understand...the radio has been turned on on the server, so then i go to winamp, go to the DSP plug in...enter ftp.nycdancefactory.com.....port:8888....password:**** my password that i have, then set up the Encoder 1, everything is set up, and then at the end when i click the CONNECT button, it displays... Connecting.....for about 1 minute or so, then it says Disconnected.... Please someone tell me what is the problem that i cant connect becuase around 2 weeks ago it worked perfectly fine without any problems, but now when i tried it again, its doing what i just discribed Please someone help

We need more information from you it can be a ton of differnet things.
Do you have to correct port on both the server and client? Is that port opened on your firewall (ipchains, ipfirewall etc). If you linux box behind a router running nat? I did a quick nmap scan of your host, and port 8888 is not open for connections. That one problem right there. ~ HD ~ According to the ship's log we're down to our last 3000 vomit bags. It'll never be enough. ![]() search the forums! don't PM me on how-to, or ask me to setup you system. you do it so you learn. |

yea but you see the thing is that when i run the START command (./sc_serv sc_serv.conf) i get those lines stated above in my 1st post....so i would assume everything is running, but the thing is that for example if it was in fact actually working, then when i go to http://www.nycdancefactory.com:8888/ would work and it would say that the radio is offline, but the shoutcast server it self would actually display, but in this case, it doesnt even work.....even tho when i ran the start command, everything seems to be up and running.....
Event log: <03/09/06@16:20:31> [SHOUTcast] DNAS/Linux v1.9.2 (Nov 25 2002) starting up... <03/09/06@16:20:31> [main] pid: 848 <03/09/06@16:20:31> [main] loaded config from sc_serv.conf <03/09/06@16:20:31> [main] initializing (usermax:1000 portbase:8888)... <03/09/06@16:20:31> [main] No ban file found (sc_serv.ban) <03/09/06@16:20:31> [main] No rip file found (sc_serv.rip) <03/09/06@16:20:31> [main] opening source socket <03/09/06@16:20:31> [main] source thread starting <03/09/06@16:20:31> [main] opening client socket <03/09/06@16:20:31> [main] Client Stream thread [0] starting <03/09/06@16:20:31> [main] client main thread starting <03/09/06@16:20:31> [source] listening for connection on port 8889 <03/09/06@16:25:27> [sleeping] 0 listeners (0 unique) So anyone have any clue as to what is going on here? |

Like I said you do not have port 8888 open! I did a port scan and that port is not open on your hostname.
You have a firewall /iptables most likely blocking you. ~HD ~ According to the ship's log we're down to our last 3000 vomit bags. It'll never be enough. ![]() search the forums! don't PM me on how-to, or ask me to setup you system. you do it so you learn. |

alright, so what steps need to be taken to unblock the port for the radio to work?
can i do it though SSH...or do i need to reffer to the server administrator that supplies me hosting? |

I'm not to good at this but i would reccomend contacting administrator.
It's similar to the way of fixing the NAK error. You need to open the ports for your computer and router but instead you need to open ports on your host. Or double check that it is port 8888. And if necesary try using a dif port if host allows it. |

Question does www.nycdancefactory.com point to your PC or the web host? You need to port scan whatever computer has winamp DSP and shoutcast server on it. Not the web site.
I tried to scan, and port 8888 or 8889 are blocked. Like I thought it was last week. I will PM you the info. ~ D ~ According to the ship's log we're down to our last 3000 vomit bags. It'll never be enough. ![]() search the forums! don't PM me on how-to, or ask me to setup you system. you do it so you learn. |
