I downloaded a Phish skin into the skins folder for WinAmp. When I double click on it to open, the normal WinAmp skin still prevails. What do I do to get the new skin?

The skin may not have saved properly. What is the normal size of a skin? Mine is 127KB.

Ow. My brain hurts.

Ok, rename the WSZ file to a WSZ, right-click on it, and choose "Unzip to C:\Program Files\Winamp\Skins\Phish (or whatever it's called)", open the Phish folder, and check to see if there are BMP and TXT files in there. If there's another folder inside that one, and the BMPs and TXT are in THAT folder, move them to the parent folder (C:\Program Files\Winamp\Skins\Phish).

Then, open Winamp, and choose the appropriate skin from your Skin Browser (Alt-S).

This SHOULD work, but I am not responsible for anything, should it not work, or indeed should I be horribly wrong.

Ok, I have done what is stated in the above post, but I still can't get my skins to load, and it says nothing about this in the FAQ. Can Anyone help me? I have tried to reinstall Winamp many times and it still does not work. I even completely erases it from my registry and it still does not work? Any suggestions?

OK, when you hit Alt-S in Winamp, and it opens the Skni Browser part of Preferences, does a list come up with the downloaded skins in it?

If so, then I can't see why they won't load.

If not, you might have the wrong directory chosen as your default skins directory. Click "change Skins directory" to remedy this.

Other than doing this, I don't know what you can do.

installation

I had the same problem...I reinstalled and noticed the option to "Include Support for Modern Skins". After installing with that checked my skins that weren't working now work. It sounds funny but I had used the WinAmp classic skin for years so I never bothered checking that option before. Hope that helps someone. Cheers.
