No racism, eh?

I tried emailing you guys but that didn't help so here's a try through your forum...

While searching for a good metal station I came across a certain radio station and I'd never expected Shoutcast to support such a station. This station plays neo nazi and racist bands and clearly knows what they are playing. I hope Shoutcast and Nullsoft will act and delete this station from their lists.

All the best,

A concerned metal fan

And now you've just advertised it making it more likely that idiots will listen to such garbage.

SHOUTcast doesn't "support" anything other than it's own product, the SHOUTcast server. Stations are owned by the person who set them up, not by SHOUTcast.

Also, please read the rules before posting. Advertising is not allowed (even if it's indirect advertising).

Please don't PM me for technical support. Other users can't search through PM's so it does the other users no good.

You're right about the indirect advertising, thanks for editing the post.

Ah, Americans and their first amendment... you can say anything, that's right. (Especially if it ends with 'God bless America') Still, if I, through my work, would help spreading such material I'd want to do something about it. And if it were in my power to do so, I would.

Well we prefer that everyone have the right to sensor themselves rather then us doing it for you. So long as they have the right to say whatever they like it is certain that the more tolerant station's rights will not be trampled. Do you honestly believe that by hiding it we solve anything?

the d-day date is approching just as the celebration of being libarated from the german occupation.

Not even sure why people post this kind of stuff. Shoutcast is not responsible in any way for the content of any radio station. If they were to remove one because someone found it offensive to them then they would eventually have to remove them all because every station out there is apt to offend someone at some time. If you don't like it - ignore it. Talking about it only spreads the word so each time someone complains about something offensive they are in essence helping to advertise it.

It has nothing to do with D-day or whatever.

Back on the subject:

I'm not saying you have to hide anything. I just think you shouldn't let them use you, that's all. And I think you are hiding behind the first amendment instead of taking responsibility yourself. Of course everyone is entitled to say anything. But you don't allow racism in this board, right? I assume that's because you're against it. Or don't you care at all and is it just that you're afraid of getting in trouble?

Piet

doe ff normaal

Still moaning?
Look, shoutcast software is free to all, the terms and conditions state that Nullsoft/AOL are not responsible for content of what people broadcast.
Nobody is making you listen to things you don't like.

Excuse my appalling Dutch.

Ya know, when I was a kid I used to visit Speakers Corner in Hyde Park, London. Back then, people stood on soap boxes and said whatever they wanted to say. Nobody complained to, or threatened to sue, the company that made the boxes they stood on, or the council which owned the land.

Your issue is with the content originator, not the medium they use to spread their garbage. Stop giving these people undeserved publicity and let this thread sink into oblivion.

the trouble with this stupid idiot who won't listen is that when he buys a tv set at "media markt" ( cough cough sorry had to use a name) and he has it delivered by UPS to his doorstep, he is the kind that goes complaining to UPS when the tv set turns out to be broken.

that is all there is to it but it seems he's too stupid to understand what he has been told.

please don't think that all dutch members here are like this.

------------------------------------------------------------
@Germ

could you explain to Piet what getting told means??

@evil lu
keep it up , you might end up speaking dutch again one day.??

If the tv guide had their own broadcast facilities they ventured out to others, gave me a tv set and said: look 200 channels waiting for you to tune into! And there were channels among them whith content like this radio broadcaster I sure would complain. No matter who actually 'made' the broadcast.

Shoutcast is more than an internet radioguide. They don't list all stations so Shoutcast isn't like a public square with soapboxes.

I'd advise a swift dose of alt f4 and go outside to look at the wildlife. It may suit you more than the internet. How about shouting at Google too before you shut the door behind you?

@Spaceplay: Jezus, jij wou mij Engels gaan leren?

@Lu: Ok, ok, I'm leaving. Too bad you kept flashing the Disclaimer at me instead of getting into a discussion.

Even still you don't sue directv when you have a problem with playboy content. You also don't sue transmitter manufacturers or tv set manufacturers either. You go after the content distributor for the results you seek.

Rolling my eyes...

Freedom in my country is something I am glad to have. I have stand on a street corner and call someone a dumbshit to their face!. however that person I called a dumbshit also has the right to sue me, not the country I live in or the street corner I am standing on.

What's next. sue my fish for pissing in his fish tank.

Long live freedom.

which wildlife?? or are you refering to the Amsterdam Zoo??

I personally think that Piet is nothing more than an annoying brat who isn't going to listen to anything he's getting told.
He has his thoughts about this and according to him he's right

Nope Shoutcast.com is nothing more than a radio guide and a place where you can download the nullsoft software you need to stream

Guess what it says on the page
it lists all those that stream using shoutcast software.
wow einstein you found out that SHOUTCAST isn't listing stations that use icecast software.
