"A general error has occurred" - RealPlayer

I have just published a shoutcast webradio and it works fine in Winamp but since I do not have Winamp at work I tried to "Tune in" from the webpage (using RealPlayer) and that did not work. If I try the same thing with (for instance) di.fm it works fine.

At first, the same thing happens with both di.fm and my station - RealPlayer tries to open the location. In my case it is http://ninc.sytes.net:8000/listen.pls (but I have also tried tuning in directly from shoutcast.com - http://www.shoutcast.com/sbin/shoutc...e=filename.pls ). After about 30 seconds, RealPlayer tells me that:

"A general error has ocurred

http://85.226.169.231:8000"

Now, since it works with di.fm and RealPlayer tells me that the problem is with my stream. How can I solve this?

Suggestions, tips? Anyone?

You most likely have port 8000 blocked at work, which is the case for me as well. I can only listen to streams on port 80. Which by the way di.fm streams on port 80! (As I am listening to one of there streams right now).

Sounds logical. Unfortunately I don´t have admin right to configure the fw. I will now bother the IT-people downstairs :]

easy fix ask the IT guys what ports are open on the firewall, and change your stream to run on one of those ports .. E.g if they tell you port 1234 is open, change your shoutcast config to use port 1234 etc..
