Help with title streaming for live webcast
Hello, am testing NSV using NSVCap, NSVate and NSVEnc (gui). Also testing a webpage using an nsv activex display. Included in the webpage player display is VB scripting that enables stream title display, and also a select box coded to use the nsvplayx open feature. When a viewer highlights a selection in the select box, the new stream starts playing in the player and its title appears above the select box.
The Setup The archived test files were encoded using NSVEnc/NSVate's NSV/config/file header/Metadata feature, where file header is checked and Metadata is -- TITLE="stream name here" -- as suggested on the Nullsoft information page. The VB script works okay with the archived test files listed in the select box -- selected archived file plays in the player, its title simultaneously appears above the select box. The Problem: When live broadcasting with NSVCap, using the same config for the file header/Metadata as above on the player webpage, the live webcast, if selected by the viewer, starts to play in the player as it should, but its title does not appear above the select box. (The VB script says to print nothing for the title when it is unavailable.) For the livecast, in the Set Capture Destination window, there is also an opportunity to input header information. Mine is set like this: icy-name:Live Test Only icy-genre:Testing Live icy-pub:1 icy-br:250 icy-url: icy-reset:1 and this configuration lists "Live Testing Only" okay in the Shoutcast TV Directory. Questions: 1) Does the NSV/config/file header/Metadata feature have a comparable "title" setting in the Set Capture Destination header info configuration? 2) If so, what is the format for stream title in Set Capture Destination/header info? (Haved tried icy-title:Stream Name Here and TITLE="Stream Name Here") 3) Should I try using both methods -- Set Capture Destination header info AND NSV/config/file header/Metadata -- at the same time, or just one of them? If just one of them, which one? (In the NSVCap setup, have tried using just one, also a zillion combos, nothing works so far). Thanks for any tips on how to enable a live broadcast title on the player webpage. HHB |

Thanks for the tip, really. As far as I know, the stream already meets stream compliance rules, have not had any problems.
With test configurations, however, when trying to get the live stream title to display on the player webpage, really should set pub to 0 -- no telling what test configs can generate that might break some rule. Again, thanks for the tip. HHB |
