What is http://www.shoutcast.com:666/ ?

Is http://www.shoutcast.com:666/ a mirror of http://www.shoutcast.com? How come http://www.shoutcast.com:666/ works for me when http://www.shoutcast.com doesn't? All I want to do is activate streams from within the player, but that doesn't work anymore. Is this issue being worked on?

I've looked around threads but all I see if people in subnets with their xboxes... how big is a subnet? I read something about NTLs proxies (what's a proxy?) meaning everyone in the UK on NTL gets 600 requests a day... that's less one per Shoutcast user? I'm just trying to make sense of it all.
