updates
Arial 10
The new Media player sucks. It sucks having to subscribe and find the stations that you liked before. I stopped updating winamp hoping to stay with the older format, but now being forced into the update really ticks me off. This update has no rhymn or reason to it. Hell, I just might go back to winmap 2.08 it doesn't have this big corp AOL crap involved with it. AOL sucks that's why I never had it, and was very hasitant to upgrading to an AOL product. I don't like having a memory hog program that slows down my computer. People with AOL might as well use there computer as a door stop, it becomes so freak'n slow. I would like to see the next upgrade to go back to the old media library format. I enjoy listening to my radio stations, but now just finding them and getting it activated and subcribed, really sucks. Thanks AOL for screwing up a great media resource and player |

Why can't I use it as an Internet Radio. If you take that function away, I really have no use for it.

Sure there is, you can play audio files of many many different types, far too many for me to remember and list here, play video files again of many different extensions.
DOn't have any music files on your PC?, fine use it to play your audio CD's You could use it to catalogue your music library into one handy dandy place, after all that's the prime function of the Media Library You could use it to manage your portable devices with the new plugins. Or how about using it to rip your fave CD's to your PC so you can do any of the above things with them Rip to mp3, ogg, acc etc etc Or you could use it to burn CD's as well if that's your thing Into podcasts?, SHOUTcast Wire for you then And if all that isn't enough and you are feeling creative you could even try skinning the player or making some trippy visualisations for it to entertain others. Or even set up your own radio station and use winamp to stream to others, you might not get many listeners at first, but there again who knows with the new and improved library there would be more chance of your stream being seen and not buried under the same old same old top 500 See, there are many many many different things you can do with winamp apart from listen to streaming audio/video, don't tell us you didn't realise? |

No, I think it's quite justified to criticise a free player. It just pisses me off that so many people who complain aren't being very good about it.

Yeah streamed at expense of AOL. Holy shit u think that AOL funded life on earth. Stations are streamed at expense of thier owners with aol or without.
It have no meaning if broadcasters use "AOL" bought (not created) technology or something other. Without things like winamp AOL would go bancrupcy... cause no one will connect to net just to watch connection icon in the tray. AOL owes winamp community a lot. |
