Interesting
Alright I'll try and explain this to the best of my ability, and I didn't know what to search for to find a good answer if it's already been answered so here we go.
Alright i'm using the current winamp, and I'm not sure when this started to happen, maybe 3 weeks to a month ago? whenever i have songs playing doesn't matter how many 1-1000 i'll leave it on all night as i do my computer and fall asleep to my music, now 99% of the time by the time i wake up whatever song i wake up to is skipping, as if frozen. I come look at my screen and open winamp from being minimized, and it shows the song is frozen as its, say at 3:31 in time and its skipping at that part of the song, over and over again. now heres the weird part, winamp isn't actually frozen? I can click and work through winamp as normal, i can press stop, but the song part that was skipping is continuing to do so even if i start another song it will play the song with the skipping being played over it, I can even close down winamp and it's still doing it. I have to go into my process tree and kill the winamp process to get it to stop, and it does this on a daily basis, I don't know why or what may cause it. so any help is appreciated I use windows XP home I just added a new 2800+amd processor and a new hard drive like 1 week ago but besides that all is still my old computer, and since i added a new hard drive and processor and the problem still persists i don't know where to begin. if you need any more help or info or better explaining just ask. thankyou for your time and help in advance. Ok well I tryed to edit but my time limit was up cause i forgot to add that I'm using DFX 7.2 plug-in for winamp, is this possibly the problem? I'm not sure if it is, but would suck incredibly if it was lol. well thanks to all who can help.

Hmmm... can you please give us some more system specs/info, eg. soundcard & drivers, DirectX version (should be 9.0c), dxdiag log, my_plugin_list, what filetypes you're playing (eg. are they all just .mp3), etc.
The same thing happened to me a week or so ago, where I left Winamp playing some ambient music all night, and when I woke up all I could hear was the same second or so looping over and over. And like you said, Winamp was still functional, and I could play other songs etc, but the looped sound was still playing in the background, even after closing winamp, and the only way to get rid of it was to kill the winamp.exe process in Task Manager (the fact that the winamp.exe process was still there suggests a problem). Note, I've also got one or two extra 3rd-party plugins installed, but no dsp/effects plugins are enabled. As a test, can you try switching to WaveOut Output (Prefs > Plugins > Output) instead of DirectSound Output, and let us know if the problem still occurs (note, DirectSound Output is recommended under Win2k/XP, not waveOut, so this is mainly just for testing purposes). In the meantime, I'm moving this to Bug Reports, until the issue is either reproduced or resolved ... |

Alright I'll try that tonight when i goto sleep, and i can reproduce it like on a daily basis, but I don't know why it does it lol ^^ and yes all my files or 99% of them are .mp3 doesn't matter what songs are played i thought it might have been because i was only repeating a single song so i put a playlist and still happened.
I got a 2800 AMD athlon new processor a chaintech summit motherboard a gig of ram um video card is a i dunno i'll have to find the box so i'll post back later. I have an audigy 2 zs? or so sound card with the most up to date drivers, as far as i know, i'm getting a new sound card in a little while with new speakers, and i'm planning on hookin an amp up to my comp and some 12 inch asubs for my home stereo system lol, and the dxdiag log, my_plugin_list I need to know where to look for these files to give you the information but i have the newest direct X also As i said i just put in a new hard drive so everything is up to date and current and it did it on my old HD too so i'm at a total lost, but even with this bug or what not I'll still prefer winamp over any other POS player out there lol
