This post doesn't REALLY belong here, but this is my home. So yeah.

Anyways, the question is when is Winamp 3 projected to be released?

Because I just got this offer to make about $100 a month with a skin website, but I won't start making money for about 2 months...and I was wondering if Winamp 3 was gonna be out by then. If that was the case, that would suck. Because I KNOW it's gonna take a while to get this Winamp 3 skin business down.

And plus, once Winamp 3 comes out, aren't all of my previous skins completely worthless to people?

Wow sweet gig Zeruel.....

Winamp is projected for sometime around christmas-

As far as outdatedness of 2.x skins, thats
what I'VE been saying... all of the optimists
in this board tell me that "Oh people will
use 2.x for a long time" that seems kinda
hokey to me. Maybe on a junky laptop....

Thats why im not making anymore skins till
3 hits.... it takes me a month, by the time
a month is over I will be able to use my
skin for a week or so....

Please tell them to do so!
That's just so much more logical.
I would be *extremely* happy.

And I know my skins won't be worthless...to me that is. But to other people, they won't be able to use em anymore.

You know all this WA3 freeform skinning lark fills me with horror. I like my GUI the way it is, like my play button where its supposed to be, I wanna know that when I press that area just over there my tracks will shuffle.

I commited a crime today, I tried out the "S" player, all in the interests of research u understand, and after i had spent 20 mins or so per skin searching for the play button, it was un-installed sharpish, god help us all if WA3 turns out anything like this.

Keep it a rectangle, keep the buttons where they are, be creative and work around, within and on top of them would be my message to the creators of WA3, freeform can only lead one way,who wants a skin thats all over the place with the play button resembling a rivet in the top corner of the skin like the one i tried out on "S" today????

Not I for one.

*gasp* Hehe! We won't tell anyone....after all it was for research

Winamp 3 sounds like it could be quite an adventure! I wonder how many of us skinners will keep the buttons where we are used to having them? I probably will just out of habit at first. But being able to put them where you want them would restore all of the functionality to the player for Anime skins and "theme" type skins which need to "remove" some of the buttons for aesthetics sake

It was research honest , i washed and scrubbed the HD afterwards

Anyhow, the old buttons anywhere u like thing, now u raise a good point there, being able to move or remove buttons will be good for image based skins, but dosnt the line in the WA3 specs that says, "skins will work better as strechable textures rather than pixel perfect pictures" kind of kill that idea dead.

And for a second point here, whenever I make a skin with a button missing here, or a EQ bar removed there to allow a background picture to shine thru, it gets blasted for not being very "functional" LOL, so when and if someone makes that 600x800 skin with one big ass button in the middle, be warned it won't be "functional" LOL

I was working on a skin this weekend, barely in its infancy, so there were no buttons or nuthin', just the base graphic.

For some reason, I was actually using Winamp at the same time to listen to tunes. I suddenly realized I had been mousing around on this empty Winamp and hitting the controls everytime (actually I missed once, which is what brought the whole issue to my attention).

Scarey to think I know the interface _that_ well. But trying doing it on one of those "S" GUIs Mr Jones is talking about...

Im with u cappy, my latest skin is also a button less afair at the minute, some of it intentional, some of it due to the fact that i aint made them yet, but like cappy I can find my way around it.

Took me damd long enuff to find the X button on the S player, finaly a lightbulb popped on above my head it had been there in front of me all along, marked clearly as CTRL + ALT + DELETE

Hey All,

I am uninvited here, but I just thot I'd throw my 2 cents in on this topic. I sincerely hope it's true that Winamp 3 will be backwards compatible with skins created for Winamp 2. I am very excited by the prospect of skinning in a whole new way, BUT I really wanna be able to use those old skins I worked so hard to create.

I've skinned for ICQ and have looked into skinning for Netscape 6 (a daunting task), but my favorite is (and *I hope* will always be) skinning for winamp. It's always a tedious process, but the results are just too cool.

Anyways, them's my thots. Regards All.

I got an e-mail from some "adult" web network that wanted me to do a skin for them.

I'm not even old enough to legally see that stuff!

Jeffrey C. that's him alright!

btw, Mr. Jones, do you know if email adresses can also be unsubscribed from that list? and how? Coz the moment I received it, I instantly hit the delete button, without reading it

(I do remember that there was something in it about a contest, and the main prize...a date with a stripper or a porn "star" or something.hahaha, that's so funny! )
