no longer on shoutcast directory
Hello:
My station has been listed on the shoutcast directory since 2000(or so). Lately I have noticed that we no longer appear anywhere in the directory. I am just wondering why. Thanks Jeffrey Gold Founder and President Sure Quality Internet Radio |

<05/30/06@05:34:52> [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com added me successfully
But we do not appear (and yes, i know it takes about 5 minutes to show up on the directory after a touch, but it's been over 1/2 hour). Strange, huh? |

As has been said in numerous other threads, you can't fix the problem. When will you people learn how to search before posting? Read.
http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....42#post1943142 I'd be pleased to see the death of the Shoutcast directory just so people quit whining about it.

has the guys at shoutcast.com ever decided to fix this problem by getting a whole new site or server.
i mean a brand freakin new one without bugs such as the ever bothersome YP problem everybody is getting, i've been online for quite some time now (4 days straight) and the YP never listed me. i have all of the config. files correct (in case you are wondering if i have anything wrong) i recently signed up to "steamfinder.com" but obiously in the past most of my listeners came from the shoutcast YP before streamfinder. |

Seeing as yp.shoutcast.com is broken according to most folks - I think it is _on topic_ to mention www.StreamFinder.com the FREE place to list and categorize your streaming audio.
It is not a replacement for yp.shoutcast.com - it just complements its service by listing a lot of shoutcast shows. --------------------------------------------------- StreamFinder.com - Add your radio station to our free directory - get more exposure and listeners |

Do you use a royalty payment agency? What is it?

It costs us around $100 US/month.
I think they are really lousy, actually. They literally take weeks to reply to email. There is no customer service. We are shopping for a new service. But, for now, any port in a storm. We must be legal because of our content. |

I was reading their FAQ's and it seems funny that they don't want you to list your station links in any other directory system except their own.... yet... the total monthly bill is compiled from TLA (total listening hours) - seems like they would want to _maximize_ that number and get 101 people listening instead of 100.... just sayin'

Maybe I misinterpreted what was on the faq page ...
"Q: Can I submit my station to a directory? Publishing stream server addresses in outside directory listings like iTunes or Windows Media Guide, etc. is not permitted without prior authorization. Specific exceptions may apply. Please see the Rules and Requirements for complete details." From: http://www.swcast.net/licensing/faq.html Quote:

I wanted to take a moment and apologize to you guys at SWCast for my previous comments. Although my experience was a bit bumpy at first, you guys have shown definate dedication and made major improvements.
I really should have checked the forums at SWCast before I opened my big mouth. I would have seen the incredible improvements your team has made. My sincere apologies to SWCast. http://swcast.net Next time I will check my facts first. Jeffrey Gold |

I simply felt that it was important to make an apology for some of my previous remarks in this thread and on this forum.
Thanks |
