Jackie Chan Looks to Bequeath Half of Wealth

HONG KONG (June 28) - Hong Kong action movie star Jackie Chan is looking to bequeath half his fortune to charity, following in the footsteps of Warren Buffet and Bill Gates, local media reported on Thursday.

"I have also written down (a will), ... half of it goes to my charity and the remaining goes to my wife and son," Chan told a media conference on a tiger conservation campaign, the Apple Daily newspaper reported.

A source close to Chan, who acted in Hollywood movies such as "Rush Hour" and "Shanghai Noon," told Reuters he had been working on his will for some time and was still reviewing it, adding his net worth was estimated at about HK$1 billion (US$128 million).

The donation to his Jackie Chan Charitable Foundation, which was founded in 1988 to help the needy and support performing arts, may be about HK$500 million, the source said.

Sometimes, I don't think "celebrities" can help this kind of attention. People make money off of every time they take a piss.

That said, who cares if rich people give away money? It's an easy thing to do. And it's not like they're changing their lifestyles to do so.
The time Angelina Jolie spends doing her humanitarian work is more interesting and probably more useful.

I'd say that, in the case of Bill Gates, it is significant because he is running and organising his Foundation.

Yeah, I just think that it's important to note that although he gets lumped into the same category as the people who are just giving away money they don't need, he is actually doing more than that. I think it's largely due to the fact that Buffet gave his money to Gates though.

As for out of focus, my glasses are currently broken and everything is a bit fuzzy
