Microphone Settings help

I finally got everything working..

But I can't talk through the mic unless I change the setting on the Input Tab to Soundcard, and talk over the mic through that..
And I have to have it on Winamp setting for the music to play so you can hear it.

How do you make it so that I don't have to do that, and you can use the crossfade settings etc on the soundcard option, and so the mic ain't always on

Nick that is a great video however in the image of the playback mixer the microphone is muted, I know it's been a long time since I messed with this mode but if I remember correctly that would not broadcast the microphone.

Thanks tom

muting the mic on the playback mixer will stop the mic feedback and streaming over the internal speakers as far as im aware.

ill double check just to make sure and correct it if need be.

hmm you got me scratching my head now

well MaManfie you must have winamp in SOUNDCARD mode to use the mic. and you need to tweak your mixer settings so your music still plays. It does work, and works quite well if you just adjust the mixer settings in windows.

get the recording mixer up, tick the box for stereo mix/record Master/or what you hear.

This should allow music and the mic to work. Now inside the winamp plug in for shoutcast you set the input to soundcard mode. you can adjust BG music (back ground), mic level, fade speed (how fast when you press push to talk it will fade).

Good luck.

Ok
So when you push mixer, and all the level thingys come up
If you go to properties..
Should it be on
Playback or Recording..
Coz I only get Stereo mix come up when it's on Recording mode setting..
And the music still don't play

stereo mix (your sound card) mixers CD, MIC, WAVE etc together.

song cards have WHAT YOUR HEAR, or RECORD MASTER. But its the same thing.

this works on my peice of crap asus soundcard ($9 USB) and my soundblaster live! card dont know your issues is.

However consider removing any other DSP (cross fade), setup winamp output plugin to direct sound (not wave out). Use only winamp DSP see if that helps. No DSP stackers or other crud in the way.

Also check the playback settings in your mixer and tick WAVE/MP3, it you tick MIC you will get feedback, mic picking up soundcard picking up mic picking up soundcard (audio loop)

Hope that helps. its trial and error for you right now.

Post screenshots of both mixers. Also you are using a mic that plugs into the soundcard not a USB mic, right?

No need for screenshots, the way the DSP does it would only work with the mic port on your soundcard.
