Anyway just thought on another feature regarding the hover settings.
Currently we have a possible reappear on hover but another setting for those who keep the toast always visible would be nice. Something like : On hover apply tranparency to toast at 25%, 50% or 75 %.

It would result in the following option:

Hover settings:
A=>Reappear on hover
B=>Apply Tranparency on hover:
B1=>25%
B2=>50%
B3=>75%
(A "sliding button thingie" like the one in the Opacity setting under the Display tab would increase the customization level.)

Setting "A" and "B" cannot be selected simultaneouselly.

However the Opacity setting on the Display tab could bring trouble so if the Opacity on the Display tab is at 70% the setting "B3" on the Hover setting should be greyed out because it is higher than the current opacity level.

This would be nice for those who keep their toasts visible but want to take a peek on what is under the toast on any given moment without having to make the toast disappear!

Hi,

I still love this great plugin, hope my main problem could be fixed soon: when I listen to online radio sometimes no toast would show up when I hit the hotkey. This is especially strange because sometimes it suddenly works 20 minutes later, while the stream title hasn't changed at all!

I can't reproduce it, it's just sometimes not working as it should...

Also I wish that the hotkey would override the "don't show toast when buffering" option. If I hit the hotkey, I want a toast 'at all cost'

Hi, seeing this thread at the top reminds to reinstall toaster & report a bug. Have been reluctant to do so because the readme states Toaster is designed only for XP, but what is there to lose.

When Toaster 0.7.3 is installed, the media library / dynamic library border doesn't load properly when changing classic skins. This affects the avs window as well. If you pass through the base skin when changing skins, like when you uninstall a skin, the borders display fine. It occurs with 5.08 d and e. Remove Toaster & the bug no longer occurs.

Attached is an example pic. Attaching .ini in 2nd post.

I noticed that if I set Toaster to not update MSN when playing video files, it works, but then after Winamp is shut down and then restarted, that option is no longer checked.
I haven't noticed anything in the ini for that, but may not no what to look for, lol.

The skin change bug and msn video option problem have been fixed for 0.7.4. Plus it fixes a small problem with changing ratings and adds the 1px border option for cover images.

Just thought I mention it here that MSN messenger 7 is now out of beta and can now get it off of the msn website. And Toast 7.0.2 still works with it.

@adam_tomlinson: Hey thanks, youre the man!

If all youre using Toaster for is the MSN title updates, Im going to do up a quick but customizable plugin which only does that, as there seems to be a lot of people that are only interested in this feature I know there are a couple already, but none use ATF processing or media library data etc or let you customize it the way Toaster can.

nah mate, though you could try a few of the other msn messenger plugins:

http://msnblog.stuffplug.com/?p=90
http://silicon.xs4all.nl/x/messenger
http://planetscott.ca/download/

I dont think Toaster 0.5 was compatible with winamp 2, it would have been a documentation error. Winamp 5 is required to do the %artist% type processing for custom formatting. Earliar versions of Toaster werent customizable or have the msn messenger support.

Ive seen a couple people claim winamp works without a plugin, but Im guessing those people have installed some msn messenger package thing which has installed one for them. There certainly isn't any support built into messenger or winamp for this out of the box.

You might like to give winamp 5 a try. If the freeform skinning etc turns you off (as it does for me, but I did like the idea of a notifier), you can just turn it off and delete the plugin which makes it possible (gen_ff.dll). The devs realised people prefered the 2.x series and basically made winamp 5 an upgrade to 2.x, with all the extra bloat crap being implemented as a plugin/s instead, which can be removed quite safely. Just get the lite version and it wont have that crap, though Toaster and Winamp make good use of the Media Library for better performance and features so you might want to get the full and cull it back manually.

OK I've got the plugin to work and everything but it seems that after I restart my computer Messenger stops displaying the songs I'm playing, not just with Winamp, but with WMP as well. So I am kind of confused and I would like to know if I someone else has had this problem.

Edit: I think it's a conflict with Messenger Plus! 3.50 and the new MSN Messenger and the built in plugin for "Now listening" :/ Oh well.

I've just found a bug. If %artist% has a " - " inside, %artist% will be broken.
e.g.:
can - goo - USO
in MSN it will become "goo - USO - can" (in "{0} - {1}" format)
Or I should say that, the plugins (toaster and gen_tips) doesn't get the correct tags because the song above has a "can/goo" in artist and "USO" in title(winamp show it correctly in both playlist and main window) but it has a "can - goo - USO.apl" in filename.

If winamp reports that artist="can"
and title="goo - USO"

then this is expected behaviour. Winamp probably displays things differently because the ATF strings use $filepart(%filename%) etc if the file doesn't have the meta data. Is hte song in your ML? whats it report as the artist and title in there?

Also, if you use {0} - {1}, it shows title then artist. Winamp is probably showing artist then title. So although it looks correct, it is actually showing the artist and title the same way, just in a different order.

Set MSN format to {1} - {0} and it will act the same way.

@4ndr3s: Your friend should get the latest MSN Messenger client (v7.0.0777) and apply the "mess patch" for that version at http://mess.be . In the "mess patch" there is an option to swap the title and artist along with other goodies.

Hi shaneh,
I don't know if this has been already reported, but there's what i consider as a bug in the preset tab of the toaster preferences.
Nothing serious, but the preset combobox popup size is too small to show more than one item at the same time...
I guess it's because you perhaps didn't modifiy its height in Visual's dialog editor...

Had the same problem with DL. Comboboxes created with the resource editor must be specifically set (with SetWindowPos or similar) to a multiple of its visible height for the actual list to be displayed in Windows 2000.

Multi Conditional Statements

Hi I want to make toaster display information based on multiple conditions, ie I want it to say "Played x times" if it has been played before "New" if it's the first play, and if it's not in the media libary I want it to say "No Information Available"

So far I have

$if(%cmp(:playcount=0)%, New, Played %playcount% times)

Which displays "Played x Times" or "New"
I have tried:

$if(%cmp(:isinml=yes)%, $if(%cmp(:playcount=0)%, New, Played %playcount% times), No Stats Available)

and

$if(%cmp(:isinml=yes)%, ($if(%cmp(:playcount=0)%, New, Played %playcount% times)), No Stats Available)

But it doesn't work. Any help would be greatly appreciated or just tell me to shut up if I'm trying to do things beyond toasters current abilities! There's gotta be some way to do it though!

That should do what you want. It is essentially the same as your second line. Both work fine for me, I am not sure why it wouldnt for you.

AVG detects the latest version of this at http://www.myplugins******* to be infected with trojan horse "Downloader.lstbar.8.K". Foobar version is clean, however. Any ideas?

It's a false positive that affects all nsis installers. Today's signature update fixes the problem. I was a little startled as well when avg popped up the infection message, although I knew it couldn't be true.

Cheers for that, updated and it no longer registers. I assumed it was a false positive because of the circumstances etc., but it doesn't hurt to be sure!

Thanks shaneh!
I don't know why it wasn't working for me but that code you gave me appears to have done the trick! Thankyou for the speedy reply!

As a suggestion could you make the input fields for the msn artist etc text boxes rather than text fields because it's too difficult to navigate the code in such a small space. It's only a suggestion though!

Thanks again.

Change it from {0} - {1} to {1} - {0}
I assume you are using my plugin. AFAIK the other one isnt configurable. Though this is a strange thread to post in, as it isn't Toaster, though Toaster does have MSN support. But you wouldnt be running that if you are using w98.

Is it possible to show rating only when there is some in MSN 7, and if there is no rating remove the text from "3:", rating etc.?

I use

1: %artist%
2: %title%
3: Rating: %rating% of 5

{0} - {1} - {2}

You can sort of do that, but its difficult to cut out the dash as ATF processing isnt done on the MSN Format section. I would recommend using:

1: %artist%
2: %title%
3: [ - Rating %rating% of 5]

{0} - {1}{2}

@sk8oride: There is no elapsed time tag for the winamp version of Toaster. This is because there is no callback for when the elapsed time changes under Winamp that works that well. I will probably get something working later though.

Also, it is fairly optimized and cached etc to prevent having to re-read all the meta data every second. Although I did something similar for the fb2k version and it seemed to work out ok, so will also evenetually do it for the Winamp version. I will probably put it in a future version, which will include a few other extra features.

I'm not getting anything in messenger. Not one thing.

And, much to my discontent, I even tried it in WMP, which works fine. So what's going on?

There does appear to be some strange bug where sometimes the titles arent being updated. I havent yet resolved it. In my experience, even WMP seems to have this problem. Restarting Messenger seems to fix it. Microsoft aren't exactly quick to jump up and help. It might be some kind of protection against frequent updates or something, its difficult to tell.
