Something Is Wrong..
Hey people.
I know there is loads of stuff about this in the forums already. So don't get angry with me for asking a question about it. Ok.. So I have had the Shoutcast DNAS server installed for over a month now, and it has pretty much worked perfectly. Until.. Yesterday, I click on it to start it up, and I get this message.. Event log: <09/06/06@20:10:40> [SHOUTcast] DNAS/win32 v1.9.7 (Jun 23 2006) starting up... <09/06/06@20:10:40> [main] loaded config from C:\Program Files\SHOUTcast\sc_serv.ini <09/06/06@20:10:40> [main] initializing (usermax:32 portbase:8000)... <09/06/06@20:10:40> [main] No ban file found (sc_serv.ban) <09/06/06@20:10:40> [main] No rip file found (sc_serv.rip) <09/06/06@20:10:40> [main] opening source socket <09/06/06@20:10:40> [main] error opening source socket! FATAL ERROR! Some other process is using this port! I would be able to understand if I had just installed and stuff, but it worked fine the day before, and all the other times.. Now there seems to be something not making it work. I haven't installed any new programs. Or changed anything. Yesterday I put the blame down to all the stuff that was going wrong, but now Im not too sure. Any help would be much appreciated! Samie |

SrcIP=ANY

I am only running one instance of Shoutcast.
And Im trying to get it to work on ANY, but it's just taking long to connect. Before when It worked fine I used my I.P and it was fine. Now nothing seems to be working! |

well, something else is using port 8000. I would download a port checker tool and try to track down exactly what that is because some program that I do not know about using ports without my knowledge would make me nervous.
However, a quick fix would be to change your broadcast port in the output --> connection --> port area of the dsp. If you are running this on a *nix box .... then simply killing the shell window does not stop all sc_serv processes. Neither does clicking the 'x' on a windows box. |

MaManFile,
You said - "So I have had the Shoutcast DNAS server installed for over a month now, and it has pretty much worked perfectly. Until.. Yesterday, I click on it to start it up, and I get this message.." Just to confirm - do you leave the server and the PC it's hosted on running 24/7 or do you shut it down overnight (for example). It looks like the fatal error is being caused because you already have the server running (in the background). If it's a standalone PC at home - simple way is to reboot it - and then restart the Shoutcast server - that will be an easy and 'non-technical' way of establishing whether this was the issue.
