Now Playing

This 'feature' annoys me...

WHY might you ask well #1 it contacts a remote server, and tells them exactly what I'm playing. -- I DON'T LIKE THIS --

For all I know my IP is being associated with the songs I'm playing, plus there are a lot of indie artists that are not displaying correctly.

Say for instance I'm playing a song by Air Jeudea. Air comes up.

There's no way to disable the plugin. I find it an invasion of privacy.

So even if I unclick 'report annoymous usage' I still get my useage recorded via 'now playing'.

PLEASE BUT OUT OF MY LISTENING HABITS!!!

Thank you.

In winamp 5.24
CTRL+ P > preferences > Media library > Now Playing > Check 'Do not allow media to automatically switch to 'now playing' option

Or if you want to be sure
CTRL+P > preferences > Plugins > Media Library > highlight 'Now Playing' in plugin list > hit 'Uninstall plugin' button.

Prefernces > Media Library > Now Playing > Check "Do not allow media to automatically switch to "Now Playing"

Better yet.....
Prefernces > Plugins > Media Library > Click on "Nullsoft Now Playing..." > Hit Uninstall

Even better yet....
Uncheck it in the installer under "Media Library Components"

So, yeah, I guess "There's no way to disable the plugin".

He was more ignorant than stupid.

About the only stupid thing about his post was the "There's no way to disable the plugin." comment. He'll know better than to assume before asking now, or at least make assumptions in more tenative language.

Otherwise he just wasn't aware of the solutions.

Don't be to hard on him. Remember, stupid people have feelings too!

If he posted in Winamp Technical Support or Discussion it would have been fine. But he had to choose Bitchlist. Don't wear the friendly smile in this forum.

Looks like I'm a bit stupid too...

I used the wrong choice from to, too, and two.

"Don't be TO hard on him" should read "Don't be TOO hard on him" minus the caps of course.
