Ripe
So when you have isps listening to your station and they are from the RIPE isp are they really listening or are they simply taking up bandwidth? How do you tell?

ripe.net in some European areas uses web proxies, so you could even have the same ip address listening more than once because they are sharing the same IP address with more than one customer.
Look at your OS and see who is really connected. Windows, UNIX, Linux, MaxOS from a terminal window try the following netstat -an | more Something like this comes back Proto Local Address Foreign Address State TCP X.X.X.X Y.Y.Y.Y ESTABLISHED X.X.X.X would be your IP address or the loopback and Y.Y.Y.Y could be your address (service talking to itself) or and listeners. This in Linux, UNIX, MacOS somebox>whois Y.Y.Y.Y (enter) This will get you the IP owners information. If someone is abusing your network, well the whois will tell you. Windows doesnt have a Whois built in, but go to www.dnsstuff.com left column WHOIS ![]() Good luck. ~ D ~ According to the ship's log we're down to our last 3000 vomit bags. It'll never be enough. ![]() search the forums! don't PM me on how-to, or ask me to setup you system. you do it so you learn. |
