Multiuser installer still broken
1) I logged in as administrator
2) I installed Winamp, choosing "separate settings per user account" 3) Winamp told me that it wants to *copy* settings to C:\Documents and settings\Administrator\... This is strange, as who would really use a computer with admin credentials? 4) I logged off 5) I logged in to other ("limited") accounts. None of them had Winamp in start menu or in quick launch. If I located the executable in C:\Program Files (x86)\Winamp, and executed it, it presented me the old user interface. SYSTEM - The system is Windows XP Pro x64, with all patches - Winamp 5.3 Full, separate settings, downloaded 3 Oct 2006, late - Tyan s2895 motherboard, 1.04 bios, Opteron, 2GB ram - Onboard audio and also Edirol FA-66 - GeForce 6800, DirectX 9 Could we finally get a version that natively stores its data in OSDISK:\Documents and settings\...? |

Sounds like it is working just fine. When you install it for the first time with the Multi-user support, it can copy the configuration files out of the Program Files\Winamp folder to the folder in Application Data for that currently logged in user.
If you log in as a different user and start Winamp, it has no configuration files yet, so you get the standard out of the box interface and options. | Brought to you by ^V ^C

So how do I get the configuration files to each user?
Do I really have to copy them manually form "Documents and settings\Administrator" to each and every users application settings, start menu, desktop and quick launch? Copying and changing the owners and permissions of all those files will take an eternity and will prohibit a clean uninstall. Is there an automated way of doing an "Install to each user"? ps. "Install to select users" could also be implemented at the same time. Just let us choose from user list... |

When you launch Winamp for the first time on a different user account, it will create the appropriate files and locations. Though, since these are different user accounts, you will have all the defaults like the first time Winamp is ran, because it is the first time it is ran for that user.
Multiple-User support means everyone gets their own settings, so if you set it up one way, and then switch to a different user to use for the first time, it will be the default settings. | Brought to you by ^V ^C

That all works, but the start menu items are created in the wrong place: In the current users start menu (These are wrong places: %HOMEPATH%, %USERPROFILE%).
The correct location for the start menu items in a multiuser setup would be "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Start Menu\Programs\Winamp" ps. Maybe you could let us choose to install to all users (%ALLUSERSPROFILE%) or to current user only (%USERPROFILE%? |
