Winamp not ignoring symbols in artist name

A few versions of Winamp ago, the Media Library sorting would ignore things like quotation marks in the Artist field and sort them strictly alphabetically. I'm not sure exactly what version was the last to do this. Now the symbols are placed at the top of the list (For example, "Weird Al" being placed first in the media library instead of with the W's). Is there a way to fix this other than downloading an older version of the player?
