Disappearing Skin/winamp

I've done a search and I can't find an answer to my problem.
I've downloaded a few skins and everytime I select them, winamp disappears. I thought it was the skin so I tried another one and the same thing happened.
Winamp doesn't go to the taskbar either, but it is still running.
The only one I can use is the two preloaded ones and Quadelic.
Anyone had this problem, and how could I fix it.
cheers
mps

Close winamp, navigate to your winamp program directory, usually c:\program files\winamp

Look for a file called studio.xnf, delete it and start winamp up again.

See if that fixes things up.

Thanks Mr Jones, that seems to have fixed my problem.
I would never have thought of looking at that.
Can you explain how that happened and how to maybe prevent it happening in the future?

I seem to get a few weird bugs from winamp like that, and studio.xnf deletes seems to fix most of them. Im not sure if oyu can avoid it so much, but generally just delete that file if something goes wrong.

Instead of deleting the whole thing, you can open it in notepad and delete the sections refering to the skins that dont work. That way you dont lose your settings on other skins.

It could be something as simple as the skin itself somehow ended up 'off screen', and when you closed winamp it saved the last known position of the skin into studio.xnf (where all modern skin variables are kept), so everytime you loaded it just stuck the player off screen.

And while you can edit the file as pointed out, it's often easier to bite the bullet and nuke the whole lot, thus ensuring you get whatever problem you had fixed for sure
