Genre glitch

Re: ShoutCast Glitch

The Genre selector of ShoutCast doesn't work properly.
For example, if I select Talk, I get Page 1 of 17.
Then, if I press Next, I get Page 2 of 797. It jumps to a general count of all the pages in ShoutCast. There is no (obvious) way to continue the page count within Talk.
Similarly, I get the same effect in another Genre, eg, Classical. By hitting Next, it also jumps to Page 2 of 797. There is no way to explore the other pages of the Classical genre.
Is there some way to bypass the Next option and just enter the desired page number manually?

Not a glitch.. known issue. AOL/nullsoft isn't updating the yp server much when its related to GENRE

It happens. My stuff is showing up as blues. No on uses the genre tab much. I find 80s listed as rock and oldies showing up as blues.

Paging through the directory is always an ordeal -- one issue is that it is updated constantly -- that means as soon as you see a page, it is no longer accurate, so going ot a "next" page, is likely to beam you somewhere you didn't expect.

Try using the search panel on the right -- change the results per page to 100 and try that.

It is probably difficult for the directory to iterate pages after the first one because of the time it takes to retrieve a sub-result. I've noticed it as long as SHOUTcast has been around, so just try your best -- the best searches are the ones that return a few results -- "Gimme everything" rarely works.

You can also try the WinAMP Radio list to see if it behaves any differently.
